Default Well good and bad....

The good...
made it to the track....met Dave Mizzel and he notice the Camaro, we had a quick talk and he left since his wife was with him.

Went 11.17 @ 119.84 off the trailer short shifting @ ?????
Spun, went 11.5 @ 118 shifting at 7000
Cool down and went up for another pass 11.3X @ 118

Now the bad.....threw the belt again, over heated on return road, so I came home

NOW, looking into an electric water pump....whos got what and works for street/strip....maybe 500 to 1000 miles a year

I have had the Meziere WP119S pump on my engine for about 3 years now with zero issues. It has worked great. Stays under 200° even in muggy, hot, stop and go traffic. I even drove it 240 miles(round trip) to Norwalk Motorsports Park for the True Street event the past 2 years.

My pump has a standard motor rated at 35gpm, but I see they also offer a heavy-duty motor(WP119SHD) rated at 42gpm.

I do not run a thermostat. When I initially installed the LS engine, I just hooked up the radiator hoses, along with a hose coupler from Jagsthatrun.com (Thanks to Speedtigger for that idea) in the top radiator hose so I could tie in my crossover tubes to the cooling system.

I had every intention incorporating a Tstat later on, but this setup was just to get the car running, and start making some trips around the block. Well, as my test trips got further from home, I realized my temp was holding steady. I started driving the car on longer test trips, watching the temp closely and never had an issue since.

The coupler has a smaller ID than the radiator hoses do. One hose is bigger than the other as you can see in the pic below. The only thing I can come up with is that this may create enough of a restriction that allows the cooling system to work properly.

My alt bracket is a work in progress. Its a home made fab job. I used the moroso bracket #63842 and welded some pieces to it. Its not 100% perfect, but its pretty close. I havent thrown any belts, and its been on the car 2 years without any real issues.

I made the mistake of putting the engine in the car first, and then tried fabbing up the bracket with it in the car I need to come up with a better design some time down the road with the engine on the engine stand.

Alternator is the old SBC style that I used from from my previous 406. The belt is a Duralast serpentine 340K6.

Not perfect, but it works. I am planning on redoing it after this season is over.

From under the car

I removed one of the timing cover bolts and put this stud in its place to mount the bracket

Yea, its not hard, just takes some time to figure it out. I've done a lot of searching, and I just dont see anyone making low-mount pass side alt kits. I really like having the alt tucked away down there out of the way. I think I may have seen 1 or 2 brackets that "might" work the way I needed with some alterations, but I'm not paying $100 or more when I can fab something up myself for much much less.

Doug, make sure you don't have a crank moving, as in excessive thrust bearing clearance.
