Default 578 HP 6 Liter LS Carbed Single Plane Dyno

I though you fellow carb neanderthals would like the latest engine that Brenton @ THR just finished.

It is a 6 liter that he rebuilt with stock parts, stock LS3/L92 heads with one of his special valve jobs and milled to get 11.5:1 compression, Victor Junior single plane intake and a Quick Fuel 750 carb. The cam is a custom 227/239 on 112+4 with .650" lift and stock rockers. Brenton says he takes great care to get the rocker geometry just right to keep the rockers happy at that lift.

Notice how it holds peak power to 6800 RPM with such a small cam. The big head and short runners can do a lot with not a lot of intake duration and relatively early 42 degree intake valve close. It is just hard to convince a lot of guys that a camshaft this small will make peak power at 6800 RPM.

Guess he was scared the bottom end would not hold to over 7k like the rest of us? I would like to see how the power carried another 3-400 RPM. Not bad at all, but I know we have seen over 600 HP with the same heads and a little less compression.

Crappy 98 ? LOL

This is why I stayed at 10.5:1... easy to fine 91-93 anywhere (and cheap)...a few places do carry 100 at the pump, but not really all that close.

I have messed a fair bit on the flowbench and dyno to see what valve job the square port heads like. Widths of cuts and angles also.

Very nice,,,,I'm gathering parts for a similar build.SBE LQ4 with GM CNC'd LS3 heads Vic Jr intake and gonna spray it.I'm gonna have a little less compression but I hope mine will make close to that N/A.Again very nice, these little engines are impressive.
