Default Carb versus efi? Help

Hi I'm currently swapping a lm7 into my 83 elcamino, I'm running 2 62mm turbos looking for around 15lbs of boost. This is a street strip car. I do drive it to work and car shows in the summer, and race on some weekends. My question is should I go efi or carb? I currently have a 650 holley dp carb. Would just need to be converted to blow thru that's 150$. Then buy the intake and timing box and it's a done deal.. but that's around 800 bucks all said and done. Or.. I go efi.. I have a truck Intake with injectors and fuel rail.. I would just need a full kit of sensors for the motor, a wire harness ecu and a tune which my friend has hp tuners and said he will tune for free (owns speed shop). Is it worth it to switch to efi or just stay carb? This is my first year getting into boost and trying to do a budget build.. thank you in advance

I would think that a twin turbo 5.3 with 15lb of boost is going to need more than 650cfm. My stock 5.3 runs a 650 holley. You can go to a junk yard and probably grab a harness and sensors for relatively cheap. Get some bigger injectors too. I'd go efi, but that's just me.

While it would help, boost doesn't increase CFM demand so a bigger carb isn't always required.

EFI is usually the way to go with turbo. Depends on how comfortable you feel, I guess.

Default Redline ECU-882C-2

OK, most here know little about the use of MY EMS.

I will make you a great deal, ECU, sensors, etc.

Can you make the harness ?

I have harnesses though they cost $$$.

Your report would only need to be posted, just the truth.
My guess is you would spend the same amount of cash.

OK so I am tossing the carb idea to the side.. my buddy is giving me a truck Intake complete with rails and stock Injectors. Also I'm looking Into a ecu and harness for a little under 100$. If so I just need the few sensors that I don't have and bam she's running. My other buddy owns a shop and has a tuner that we can hack the ecu and throw a tune on it. My question now is, will 88lb injectors be enough? My ultimate goal is over 1000hp to the crank. Granted my current motor isn't set up for it right now but I'm trying to buy as much stuff now that I can reuse on the new motor as I can. Thanks for all the help.

Default TURBO Intake Manifolds

Yes, the 88's will work, I can provide some 80 Denso's at a great price.
How much for your chosen 88's ?

I too agree, your Truck Intake is the BEST OEM intake for turbo use.

I have the sensors, those too at low cost.

Lance, BTW a good idea, the "toss"

EFI would be best with the turbo deal, don't mess with the factory ECM as its a POS to get right on a setup like this, use mega squirt, or holley, cost a little more at first but well worth down the road, you are going to need way more than what you have to get that 1000 in my opinion, the truck intake is fine, we make 1200 using one @ 25psi on E85

Lance,

Is there somewhere that you have the features of your ECU listed? Your website is short on details. As I recall, your ECU has been around for a while now (more than 10 years?)...
