Default LSX 427 W/ LS7 heads

Just getting into my first LS build. It will be for a Street/strip car to be used for our Racers For Christ club at our church. The base Is a GM LSX block #19260093 My intent is to run a 4.125" bore and a 4" stroke using 6.125 rods. The heads I like are Trick Flow TFS-3271T00-C01 LS7 type. I am having problems with deciding what pistons to use. The engine will be carburetor with nitrous. I am liking the JE LS7 Asymetrical FSR and Diamond Nitrous dome. The big thing about the Diamond I like is the .300 down compression ring. I am having issues on figuring what initial compression ratio to use. I plan on gas for fuel but am keeping my mind open to E85. The car is not been decided yet but looking for a 1972 Malibu. Any input could help me. Thanks

I used the JE Asymetrical pistons in an 8.5:1 compression 4" stroke iron block 408 turbo build, they rattled like hell set at their specs.

I used Wiesco in my current 4" stroke 13:1 E85 aluminum block 416 build, silent as the stockers and they lived through drag week.

Not bashing the JE's, they did the job at 1052rwp and a lot of street miles without problems but the noise was loud enough bystanders would ask what's wrong. If it was a race only car I would not have a problem with JE but the rattle was unnerving on the street.

I also have had great luck with Wiseco. They also now sell connecting rods too.

Will it be mostly street or more track oriented? Something to keep in mind on choosing which fuel to use such as Availability of E85 in your area. I run wiseco pistons and no issues after 3 years of abuse

Default Wiseco revisit

After reading some of your replies I revisited the Wiseco website which is very limited so I called their tech. The tech at Wiseco was very easy to talk to. The first thing I did was fly my 1st time LS build flag and he answered all my questions and gave me Wiseco's piston #K463X125 which fits my needs almost perfect (Was thinking about hard anodizing) The compression is more to my liking and the top compression ring is down .280 The Diamond racing NITROUS - DOME is my first choice but the compression is more than I really wanted by a very small amount. The Diamond tech was not very useful and kept telling me to do what my engine builder wanted even when I flew my 1st time LS builder flag. He also said that the compression ring down .300 as on their website but would probable be around .280 I have used Diamond on most of my blower motor builds and have had no failures in 30+ years. but Wiseco is looking good. Any input would be appreciated.

Default Best place to order Wiseco?

Well I'm surprised by me not going Diamond again (maybe 20+ blown and naturalyasperated BBC with them). I just got a custom piston order # for -This will include our Armor Plating, upgraded .200” thick wall piston pins, rings, locks, oil rail supports and skirt coating. (Dome and other specs to shelf stock part #K463X125) The thing thatclosed the sale was that the compression ring is down .280. Diamond has a Nitrous piston that is stated to be .300 down compression ring but when I talked to their tech he said after the pistons are made to the 4.125 bore and with their coatings it will be more like .280 down so now I just have to order them custom. Where is the best place to order Wiseco custom pistons. I am waiting on a price from Excessive Motorsports right now.
