Sounds cool keep us posted.

For my '51 Merc I'm doing a 5.3, 220/228 low lift TSP cam, 862s stock, carb intake and Holley 750.

I think bigger cam, (more carb?), should get you a lot closer to 11.5....

still learning a lot about how these little motors. We had our first SBSO series race a couple of weeks ago, ran 1/8th mile the little motor went a best of 7.44@92. Bringing the car out at 2500rpm on the footbrake. Got the 60ft down to a 1.67. I don't think that is to bad for the LM7 motor with the 220 TSP camshaft.
We have now swapped out the manual valve body powerglide for another powerglide with a transbrake.
I think bringing the car out at a higher rpm with the big converter will help get the car moving.
we have our 2nd race at Tulsa on the 8th. the only change will be the transbrake.
we will see how that goes, Then after this race we are putting the L33 with the V2 torquer camshaft in the car and see how it runs.

That's great for that little cam and no 'brake.

I envy you a ton for getting to run this class. My 90' LS swap Camaro drag car would have been perfect for this and competitive. It is one of the few class type deals left that can be fun without a ton of money.

Can you mill the heads for more compression. 11.5-1 would be safe with 91 octane fuel.

Looks like she leaves pretty good,
I have an LS1 sitting waiting on its turn, just didn't want it to get claimed this early in the season.

I probably could mill the heads. But this motor is coming out after this weekends race, going with a better 5.3 I have built.

Your motor shouldn't be able to be claimed until you win the series unless it's illegal.

Our claimer rules are different

The rules are the top 4 qualifiers and the winner of the race can be claimed on the spot.
So at any given race you show up and qualify #4 or better or you win the race that day.
you can be claimed that day.
They can also pump you motor for cubic inches. Borescope motor for illegal crank and rods, must run pump 91 gas. Stock factory heads.

For any race the top 4 qualifiers and the winner can be claimed.
So you show up and qualify top 4 or win you can be claimed.
If you refuse to give up your motor, you will be removed from the group.
You get to keep headers, carb, intake, ignition that's it.

everything else on the motor goes for 1500 bucks.

Random weigh in every elimination round.

Well that makes it a lot less appealing. It makes as though if you were claimed you would just wait for the next round and claim another motor with the cash. Seems kind of silly.

The way it works is.... let's say I want to claim your motor. I will come to you with the claimer form. And notify you I am claiming your motor. Now if I was to do it I wouldn't notify you I was claiming your motor until after the racing is done for the day. You can claim a motor at anytime BUT the claimee can finish out the day with the motor.
You also can not get claimed back to back races.

So the best way it sounds to me , is get a low mile junkyard motor , cam it. Then spend all the money on the chassis.

That is a **** deal for G Body guys because the factory rear suspension geometry does not have enough anti-squat.
I would find a way to cheat on that aspect of the rules.
Are you allowed an anti-roll bar?

so far our car has been a best of 11.78@114 with a slow 1.67 60ft.
my wife is driving the car and this is her first year of competition. So there is a big learning curve.
she is finally launching the car consistent, and shifting the car consistent. Now if I could get her to have a decent reaction time. LOL
we are racing this weekend, after this race the LM7 5.3 motor is coming out and I am putting in something different.
I have a L33 5.3 with a TSP V2 camshaft in it ready to go, but at the same time I am finishing up on a LS1 short block (just need to figure out what heads to go with on it.)
I have a 6.0 I am getting ready to build, but I have NO idea on what I want to build it into.
All my combo's are N/A pump 91 gas set ups.
