What a cool class and nice project.

Chris here are the rules.

Stock Block Shootout Series

****RULES****

The entire idea is to cater to the budget racer who wants to have some heads up fun. Cubic dollars shouldn't be the only factor for a chance at a purse.

No buy backs, one and done.

0.500 Pro tree

Payouts based on car counts for each respective class.

“B” class groupings for any class will not happen until full 16 car fields are present.

**Points Breakdown**:

If you enter a race in the series you are automatically entered into the points chase. There is no extra fee.

Race Entry = 20 pts.
Round Win = 10 pts.
Overall Race Win = Bonus 10 pts.
Runner-up in Class = Bonus 5 pts.
Qualifying Points Bonus = #1 – #8, 8 points for #1 down to 1 point for #8 Qualifier
Put Fluid of any kind on the track to create a race stoppage = -10 pts.

Worst race is dropped when totaling, if all races were completed. (If you miss a race that 0 point score is automatically dropped). If a race(s) is rained out or cancelled giving us a total of less than 8 there will be no drop.

Tie breaker is head to head record.

Two test hits to qualify, and all run ladders. You must make one qualifying hit. If you show up with a car that is class legal you will get to run for the money. Simple as that.

If you show up too late to make the one test hit / qualifying pass you will not be put in the field. This will be strongly enforced in 2017.

Cars must pass standard track safety tech to even be considered.

ANYONE FOUND TO BE OUTSIDE THE RULES LISTED WILL BE DISMISSED FROM THE SERIES AND RETURN ANY WINNINGS.

DOCUMENTATION of build is expected. This includes dated pictures of engine assembly. If documentation cannot be provided an internal inspection may be requested.

**GENERAL RULES**:
All cars will run a stock production OEM block. This means the block has a verifiable serial and came from a production vehicle. No Motorsports or GMPP blocks. No hardblock or concreted blocks. Stock main caps. No sleeves or alterations used for the purpose of extending a blocks power capacity. Service sleeves should be limited to two cylinders maximum and fully disclosed at tech.

Stock suspension in all cars, bolt-on replacement type suspension only.

Leaf springs can be relocated inboard to allow rule legal tire clearance.

Shock relocation legal.

Control arm instant center brackets or weight “jackers” legal. Stock housing brackets must remain in factory location.

No ladder bars etc. No tube chassis cars. No wheelie bars.

All cars must run a production trans and rear-end housing (9& is fine). No fabricated rears.

28x10.5 non-W or smaller true slicks, 28x12.5 DOT or 275/60/15 or smaller drag radial. Any brand.

We are only 4 races into the series of 10, nobody has claimed a motor yet.

I am getting ready to swap out the 5.3 for a 5.7 just to see what the difference in cubic inches and better heads will do.

It is a fun series, you just have to like traveling to make all the races, we will travel over 6,000 miles this year supporting this series.

5 different tracks 10 races total.

My driver (aka my wife) got herself another win last night in the SBSO claimer class.

5 races in to the 10 race season she has 2 wins, 2 runner ups, 1 out in first round.

It was a hot miserable day in Kansas yesterday but she got it done.
Best the car ran was 11.63@116.

going to retire the little LM7 and drop in a LS1 I have thrown together.

So to recap the best pass for the 5.3 are

11.54@117 in decent air
7.18@93 in great air

Digging up an old thread, My driver aka Wife finished out her year with winning the points championship for the SBSO Claimer Class.
9 races we were 5 wins 3 runner ups and 1 out first round.

the best the LS1 ran in SBSO rules were 11.20@120 on the 1/4 miles set up and 6.96@98 with the 1/8 mile gear set up. Car weighing 3038 pounds.

for ***** and grins we took the 650 pump gas carb off and bolted on a 650 QFT alcohol carb, everything else was left the same, BUT we did add weight to the car to try and get it as close to 3200 pounds for 2018 year rules.
(Car ended up weighing 3167 pounds she was 33 pounds short of the new rules weight.)

car went a best of 10.87@122 BUT the car was running out of fuel pump from around 1000ft mark to finish line.
the only way the car would pull all the way down the track and not pop from leaning out so much was to shift the motor at 5800rpm.

I think with the correct fuel pump for alcohol the car will go a high 70's.

anyways here is the wife with her championship plaque and here is her first 10 second time slip.

Oh and the powerglide is coming out and I am putting in a TH400, I think with the lower first gear of the 3 speed will really help the car

Cool stuff, congrats to her-if claimed, how much time do you have to pull the engine-do you get to take it home, and they have to drive to you to get it.

if they have a cherry picker they can pull it then, if not the motor will be sealed, and the claimer has 1 week to pick the motor up.
