Need your help or opinion & ty for reading......heres the s deal.....im an old school bbc nitrous guy....so im dumb to the 6ls and laptop part of this...so here goes ....i just purchased a truck from a old man who took truck in on trade....knows nothing about it and it came with no timing curve chips......
1984 chevy short bed 2 wheel drive (1/8 mile truck)
1998 6.0
Victor jr single plane intake,
750 demon ( vac secondaries )
said had small cam ?

350 turbo
shift kit
stock converter

12 bolt
4.11`s
locker
Cal track bars
slicks

so i took the truck to the track...... ran it 3 times and ran in the 8.70`s and a sucky 2.25 60ft time.....

here is the problem......the truck winds out so slow in first gear then all of a sudden when i hit 2 it pulls like a sob and even harder in third......2 & 3rd gear pull very hard and shifting at 7000 rpm
but sense it takes for ever to wind first gear out im not shifting into 3rd gear till right at the end of the 1/8 mile which is crazy with 4.11`s.......

sooooo, i figure the timing has to be way retarded to be all top end ?

so i had my wife hook her lap top up to it to see where it was and this is it :

24* @ 700 rpm
30* @ 2000 rpm
32* @ 2500 rpm
35* @ 3000 rpm through the rest of the board

im no genious but that sounds pretty good ? am i wrong ?

why is first gear taking so long to rap out ? vacume sec carb ?

should i have more timing coming out of the whole ?

thanks for your opinion and help....remember im new to the lap top stuff lol p.s i have no Map sensor and it says * on the map on the laptop.....thanks gain guys

Stock converter is killing your 60 ft. Other than converter or too-tall slicks, no answer for the 1st gear problem...

Timing looks ok I'd guess, BUT, that depends on the cam/motor combo.

Lazy in 1st......that confuses me.
Make sure there is no low rev limit set (shorted wire ?)
Someone may have swapped old/bad parts for good/race parts ?

Go over everything I guess.

Make sure it really has 4.11 gears. Timing don't look bad, but you could always try a little more down low.

Yes, low rev is for 2 step. Stock converter is whats killing your take off. LS motors LOVE big stalls. Id also verify gears in rear.

i checked gears, def 4.11`s.....just ordered a 3000 converter, ill see what that does......im also wondering if this vacume secondaries carb is working....after taking it too the track i thought the timing was way far retarded but i guess not......as long as i dont have a trans brake or a 2 step hooked up the low rev shouldnt even work...right ?

"shouldn't" is correct...but wouldn't hurt to check.

You could try another carb or test yours to make sure it's working right.

Maybe the shifter needs adjusted or perhaps a transmission issue inside?

I would also check the carb, vac secondaries? might be opening to soon and no fuel to carry it till maybe the PV opens up, maybe not enough shot of fuel when leaving?
probably a couple of things, converter as mentioned, tire for now is to big so it can't get out quick enough. just slowly whittle away at the combo to get it right.

try to borrow a Dp carb if possible to see, especially after you get your new converter.

like mentioned, try more timing coming out. I also use it for a traction control lol.
I leave on 36* and on my combo it works pretty good. I would add 2* at a time and watch your mph
