Hey guys, what would be a good 6.0 with ls3 heads build? Something with a big cam, going in a s10 with a built 4l80, post what you think! Thanks

I'm doing a very similar build but with a turbo 400. Carburetor 6.0, and ls3 heads.

I'm running this (231/247 .617/ .624 113 lsa) in a SBE LQ4, milled L92 heads, LS3 intake, and a NW92. Its pretty rowdy! Made 450 rwhp.
Is this to be street driven or track only?

I would go with a little smaller cam and a 3600-3800 lock-up converter.

My question is, why is the 2005 and later better than the earlier ones?

This looks like a decent pick too....but will require a stall converter as will others in this range.

All in how far you want to go.

JUST WATCH YOUR PTV CLEARANCE USING A LQ4/LS3 COMBO !!!!

Why LS3 heads on a 4.00 bore? Unless your intended power range is going to be 7k plus I would look into the 225 Trickflows instead, especially if its going to be a street car. You will have enough flow, less valve shrouding and higher air speeds with the 225s for street use. Camshaft depends on Compression ratio - Head specifications and desired power band range. Call Circle D for converter recommendations

LS3 heads can be had for 600ish. Otherwise why bother using a junkyard engine and spend all the money.

Cam motion is a sponsor here, with Steve, I use Ed Curtis. His cams have been in my builds for the last 10 or so years. From my 302 that ran 6.82 to the 6.0 that has been 5.93. Hard to argue with performance.

Its stock bottom end. The only thing non stock I guess is the rod bolts and the notches in the pistons for the custom Ed Curtis cam.. The heads have cleaned up ports and have been milled extensively. It runs Pump gas and has a vic jr, 2 inch carb spacer, 950 pro systems carb, turbo 350, 5500 BTE 8 inch converter, 4.30 gears. That 5.93 was in June. It was fairly hot and humid. Hoping when the cool fall air gets here, we MIGHT see some 5.8s. Actually hoping if we keep the front end close to the ground, we might squeak out a 5.79999. I don't know if it can do that, but you can bet, Ill be trying. In this mid 80-90 degree air it usually goes 6.02-6.04, so some good 30 degree cooler air should free up some power.

I launch off foot brake at about 3000. If I leave harder, its generally faster, but hard to hold at the line. Im really hoping I can pull out a 1.19 60 before the years end. My old motor(last 6.2) went 1.23, I think the best Ive gotten out of this one so far is a 1.24-5? But Im sure I can get better, just a fine line between keeping front end down and rear tires hooked.

We here at Livernois Motorsports offer a great selection of cnc ported cylinder heads and camshafts to match the application.

For your set up I would do a set of our pro series heads and the stage II-c hi lift camshaft with a 3400-3600 stall this would give you a great powerplant with excellent street manners and longevity.
