Default Carbureted 6.0 Alternator help

Alternator seems to be overheating or maybe I’m just paranoid. You can keep your hand on it but to me it’s really warm. Had alternator tested came back good. I’m running a electric fuel pump, fans, and msd box. Any suggestions??? Thx for helping!

With a carb? Factory LS alternators don’t need 12 volts to charge and there is a chance that it’s burning up. Not sure if you are aware.

If he's running fans, that is a good electrical load.

What amp load it rated for and how many amps you pulling ?

But, yes, they do get pretty warm/hot.

Alternator is a CS140 chrome. It’s not overcharging on voltmeter. Somebody told me it’s because it’s chrome 🤷🏾dum♂️

CS140 should be plenty.
Chrome doesn't help with heat radiation either.

I'm running the same electrical load off an 85 amp alternator. If it is getting hot than my guess would be general engine heat/lack of airflow more than an overload condition.

got a temp gun? hit it with a laser and report back. Someone here can hit theirs and compare temps. i've never even thought to feel the alternator. I expect it to be hot as hell. It's bolted to a block or head with no insulation.
