How to build this 5.3 to fit my needs?

I just bought a LC9 Gen.4 5.3 complete engine from a friends wrecked 2008 Silverado, engine has 150k on it and ran great before the wreck, anyway I want to ditch the EFI for now and go old school with a carb. and put it in my 92 Camaro that currently has a dead 305 and T-5 trans, 3.42 posi rear. I have a Holley 750XP carb and a T-56 trans to start with, I will NOT be adding power adders or racing this I just want a fun street driver, I will be using full length headers and 2.5 dual exhaust, I want the engine to have a good sounding idle and spin freely to 6500 RPM, what intake and cam would be a good choice to run with the 3.42 rear and 26 in. tire and not be a dog down low? I'm planning on re-ringing and honing the engine first, should I bump up the compression before hand with a head shave or different pistons? If so what would be a good ratio for 93 pump gas? Thanks

Edelbrock # 7118

So current compression is 9.6:1 and I feel you could safely go 10.5:1

IF you're going to re-ring, I would add new bearings also as an added safety measure.

Bumping compression ?
Thinner gasket "could" be the answer to get you a fuzz higher at a cheaper cost ?

I'm thinking if you got an ASA cam, you'll be happy.

Yes, that goes without saying, so I didn't say!

What ASA cam are you referring too? I Googled it and there are several different ones, there is one at the WS6 store, 226/236 LSA@110 and .600 lift?

For LS engines there should only be two; The GM one with .525 lift (of which there are copies) and the WS6store high lift (.600) one.

The GM ASA .525 110 LSA is the one I was referring to...more carb orientated with the 110 LSA, a bump over stock in lift and duration, and the "sound" you're looking for, without going too wild for a street car.

I have an earlier 5.3 that I went with a carburetor. I used 706 heads milled .003 off it, with 4.8 pistons. Cleaned and honed the block, new King bearings with a 54-416-11 cam from Comp, with 1.8 rockers. I’m sitting at roughly 10.6:1 CR. I advanced the cam 4 degrees. I went with the Holley single plane intake cause it was a little cheaper. Running and old 750 race Demon carb. 1 3/4 LT headers. To an NV3500 5 speed It has just a little rumble to it and not super choppy but sounds decent. Haven’t had time to really run it. But it’s a decent budget option I think. Pretty happy with it. Down the road may swap to the new split manifold from Holley and have them CNC’d and port matched. But that’s down the road.
