Default Newbie here - be gentle!!

Hi all - just purchased my new toy yesterday... a black Y2k SS Camaro. Haven't aken any pics of my own yet but for the tome being hope you find these interesting.... over here in the UK they are rare so am really please to have found one. Prior to this I've owned a Ford Lightning (man I miss that truck!!!!), about 6 3rd gen camaros (4 Irocs, 1 RS and a 383 Z28), and V6 '95 Firebird so you could say I'm a bit of a fanboy

Will try and post a bit more when I've got some pix - though I hope it won't stay stand for long....

Very nice!

1) What is that white object sitting above the SS badge on the passengers side fender?

2) What type of reactions do you get with a car like this over there?

3) What is the general consensus in the UK on the folks that drive the 8 cylinder "gas guzzlers"? Are you looked at as an axxhole since everyone else is in tune with the efficiency and smaller displacement engines of Europe? (although these cars aren't terribly inefficient, at all)

Cheers BB...

the white object is a side repeater indicator (legal requirement here - all vehicles MUST have these, most tend to be orange but clear/white with an orange bulb does tend to look a little better)

Yanks metal in general tends to get a disproportionatly high amount of interest compared to most Euro/Jap fare - apart from most being left hookers they're totally different from a design perspective and (obviously with a V8) can be somewhat louder than is the norm over here...

As for the whole eco thing - who cares if others dislike your hobbies? That being said when you tell them that at a steady 65/70 you're returning up to 32/33mpg (remember a UK gallon is larger than a US one) their jaw does tend to hit the ground... I think the thing over here is "if you don't get it there's not point in trying to explain"
