Default what is traction controlon a Camaro

i was looking at a 2002 Camaro, 4sp auto, and it has an option, traction control-other than the right foot, what is traction control-does the ECU detect the wheels spinning, and cut power or something
i dont think their talking about posi rear as traction control

I've always heard it cuts engine power and applies the rear brakes, which is somewhat explained in the link

the amount of timing retard is adjustable in hp tuners to limit the ammount of power it removes when wheel spin is detected
