i had a 94 Thunderbird with 4.6 and a cat back. it also had a big bright red bowtie in the back glass from auto zoom if that tells you anything about my opinion of you wanting to put an ss hood on a v6 car.

it's you're car, do as you please.

on a side note the look on FORD fans faces everywhere was priceless

I personally would not do it. But, if you like the idea of having it (even if people give you crap for it) more than not having it, then get it. It's your car, do with it what makes you happy!

If it is going to cost you money, I would not do it. Save that money for a few years til you can buy urself a real SS. The SS hood on your V6 will have no other benefit but a visual one... and for what it costs I do not think it is worth it at all. Next thing u'll want a SS wing, and in the end ur just going to wish u didnt even start. I guarantee it.

I vote no. Save the money and put it into something worth while. Not a v6 car.

I had a v6 in high school I made it look real good wheels tires , headlights, interior, air intake, then put exhaust on it hated the way it sounded so I advise don't do that. Hood would be alright . But I ended up getting.g rid of my v6 real quick like and got my 98 Z28 now . As a matter of fact traded my v6 for a bone stock LS1 car so I believe I come out with a good deal considering I have sunk A LOT of money in mine now

Don't badge it as a SS and you won't get any **** from it.

My buddy had a V6 SS clone for four or five year. It was a very good looking car had the SS hood and wing, TTM wheels, HIDs, Whistler mod, tint, had the mirrors painted and roof behind the t-tops, and the Koni/Strano setup. He recently picked up a 2000 Z28 with 47k on the clock and swapped the hood, spoiler, HIDs, and suspension over, so it worked out pretty good in his case.

A couple pics, just for fun :

Just so you know, if you were to swap an LS1 into your V6 car, your insurance wouldn't go up. They don't ask you about what the car has done to it, they just go by VIN.

This is horrible advise... It's going to cost 4-5k to do the swap... And there isn't much difference in price from a V6 to V8 insurance.

Not gonna lie the SS clone pics are clean but only for a show car. Its still a v6 ... But bro its your car just stay away from dual exhaust.. I learned from experience it sounds horrible I know from experience. Lol but I think you should do what you want with it. Make it a show car. If that's what your parents bought you you can't help that but if you can get the parts to make it a show car i say go for it... I mean you gotta drive it so I would make it look clean as hell and take car of it. Then when your able get a ss or z28 .

I'm sorry to burst all you v8 nut huggers nuts but I've seen a BUNCH. Of Gnx and Fbodys with exhaust that sounded way the he'l better then stock... Does it sound like an ls1? No does it sound better with a real exhaust then a fart can?!!? He'll yes!!! IMO people who throw glass packs or fart cans on v8s are the ones who sound like crap.. And yes I did see an ls1 car with dual fart cans the other day..

As a proud owner of a v6 "3.8l Camaro and an ls1 car "#2". My v6 car still gives me tons of enjoyment. And I'm still modding it too even though I have an ls1.

At the end of the day you will have some retard purist that won't like anything that doesn't look exactly like everyone else's or looks better then their ls1's, but it's your car and its matter or personal opinion.

SS hood, go for it, also get the ram air box to go with it, I have a take off oem part I could sell but it's only the upper lid so woulnd be much better.

Exhaust, go for it. But while your at it, save for a twin turbo setup and put the purist to shame when you stomp them!!! I've seen more then a few 3.8 GNX twin turbos running 10's........ Motor is more or less the same in the fbody, 3800 Series II or what have you...

Have fun and good luck with your sixer!!!

I had a 98 V6 Camaro (sig). I planned on putting a harwood hood on it because my stock one was damaged. I also had planned to repair all the flaws in the body and give it a fresh coat of paint, get it looking really nice, and turbocharge it as well to increase the fun factor, but that didn't happen as it was too rusty underneath to be able to really fix, so I tried to sell it. Ended up walling it instead on some bad roads

I'm not a fan of SS hoods on V6 cars, personally. Heck I'm more of a stickler where I wouldn't put one on a Z28 but that's just me, do what you like, just don't try to badge it as an SS!

I still miss my Camaro by the way and want to get another. Though I figure I'll probably get a Z28 next time around. I still have my Harwood hood and a few other appearance mod parts in the basement lol.

An LS1 swap is horrible advise? How? Maybe he could skip the LS1 and go straight to a built 6.0 with a 4L80 and a 9 inch.

5.3 is a good idea lethal bird. Plus a smaller cam hits harder in the smaller motor.

An ls6 zo6 cam is cheap and so are the supporting mods and its been proven many times. A cammed 5.3 swap is the cheapest way to have a really nice, dependable, power making v6 car.
