Bought two of the California Car Covers. Very pleased with them and they have only been on for three days. In Florida we get alot of pollen this time of the year and I absolutely hate it so on day one I was using my leaf blower to remove the yellow dust on my covers. Well today it rained and it started late last night and rained all the way through till about noon. I was very curious to see how much water gets through these covers especially after a 14 hour rain storm (nothing heavy).
As soon as I got home I pulled the car covers and they were both bone dry and i could still see a couple streaks from the wax i put on. The cars looked immaculate and i couldnt be happier. California Car Cover for the win big time and I purchased the Noah car covers which did rack up the price but for me it's worth every penny already. Hopefully a year from now I still feel the same way. Heres a couple pics

Also there is a california car cover on ebay right now for a Camaro Z28 but it is Stormweave which is the next step down for like $100ish if i remember correctly. The part numbers though between the Camaro and Trans AM were different on the car covers thought I think because of the spoiler.

Another update and this one may annoy some of you who do follow. I did alot of work to the Z28 in the short time I had it. From January to Yesterday (March 18th) i managed to:
Replace snow flakes with ZR1 Chrome wheels. 17x11 and 17x9.5
Fixed Tail Light
Borla Exhaust
Replace Bulbs
Fix Radio
Clean interior like you wouldnt believe
Cracked my dash more- not a positive
Reroute 02 sensors
Fix header from rubbing A-Arm
Brakes all the way around
Swap to K&n open style cold air intake
Paint some engine bay parts
Completely remove 90% of the damage to the passenger side (dent left over)
Fix driver window and replace motor
And im sure some other things i cant think of....
The gentleman i purchased the car from now has it back, if you had seen the car day 1 to currently its a huge difference. I enjoyed it, i got 24mpg on it, it rode pretty decent, it had a great tune and was probably the quickest one i owned with the little mods that it had.
Here are some pics
Day 1
Now
I will definitely miss this car because it was an easy fun small project while i had it.

Now if you read my previous pages im sure you could probably imagine that i didnt get rid of the Z28 without replacing it..... I MOVED UP IN THE WORLD
This is what took its place.
2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6
Automatic (i know, i wanted manual)
109000 miles
Long tube headers (crap really)
Regular Exhaust back to a cheap muffler
Black Leather (no rips)
A/C and Heat works great
Pretty much completely untouched
Bad: It has neon lights underneath and inside the engine bay and interior
PCV Elbow was collapsed
Interior is dirty and some small stains (starting kver again)
One small ding
One small scuff on front passenger fender
Turn Signals wont work
Headlights were acting funny
Radio with amplifier that had wires going EVERYWHERE
Bank 1 Sensor Code
MAF Sensor Code
Exhaust Leak
First thing I did was unhook pcv hose and plug off intake on passenger side for a quick temporary fix. Ran much better
Removed said neon lights from all over and its wiring FROM ALL OVER
Removed amplifier and wiring from all over
I probably pulled about 30 different wires out of this car today which took ALOOOTTT of my time which sucks but the way it was run through the car would not have left me to sleep easy at night.
I will have to rewire the speakers to the radio but at least ill know how it's done.
Fixed headlights, the ground that runs to the radiator support was the issue.
Turn signals in the front had some cheap HID lights that stretched the sockets so i ordered new ones tonight to wire in.
Next will be to install those and see if its a good fix.
I will be replacing exhaust and going from there soon.
Little at a time
a friend bought this car from the original owner, the same friend who now owns that Z28 so he got the car from the original owner a week ago and transferred the title to his name then tomorrow it will be in my name so in all reality i am second owner but third by paper. The paint on the car is in beautiful shape and it really blows me away how much it was cared for.
Here are some pics abd shes here to stay

Thank you very much. The Orange SOM is bitter sweet to me in many ways. I had wanted one for so long and finally got one, wish it was manual but it doesn't mean less to me because of it, but again thank you. Ill be posting more pics of it soon

Well I just found out the blue Z28 is now owned by a person who plans to strip it apart and use the motor in a truck........
I get why people do it but at the same time i dont care for it. I see when people by them for a swap they are getting the guarantee that it runs and drives and see how well off the engine is......at the same time you are destroying a perfectly good f-body that will be at some point hard to come by in the future. Why not go grab a wrecked on or a 6.0L truck motor, those are everywhere.
Done with my rant. It's not mine anymore so my opinion is nothing and not needed anyway lol

Last night I did dig into the WS6, I have no name for her yet, yes I said her. The SOM WS6 is a guy so it's only right.
I will never understand how someone can do such an over the top job on keeping a car looking so great but not have the know-how or will to keep the maintenance up. I love a really clean car but I would rather have a dirty car that was well maintained then a showroom shine that is mechanically ignored in some areas.
So I start off with the old trusty air filter, the one that was in it was by far the nastiest one I think I ever pulled off a car. It even had lizzard eggs sitting in between the ridges of the filter. I pulled it and cleaned the entire air lid assembly front to back. There was an ungodly amount of crap in it.
With that being said I pulled the MAF and Throttle Body. I assumed with the air filter being this nasty the other two parts wouldn't be far different. Well I was right. The MAF was actually really clean but the throttle body was terrible.
Buttoned that back up and replaced a PCV boot running to the intake and new air filter and fired it up and it ran sooooo much better.
PICS OF SAID ****
Notice the pieces of the air filter where it was coming apart inside of the air lid assembly.

So I replaced the running light/ turn signal sockets on the front of the car last night. Pulled the old sockets and this is the quality **** that the previous owner did. This socket would not work because the LED bulbs that were installed pryed the socket apart and would no longer seat a regular bulb.
In the mix of all this though I did however get the SES light to finally shut off due to some other work I did.
I now also have the interior lights fixed, remote now unlocks and locks the car, power lock button works and some other small things. Moving right along with no big hold ups fortunately.

Years ago a buddy of mine popped his hood at a car meet and I noticed he had a clear air lid and I thought it was one of the best looking engine bay mods/clean-up looks I had seen. So I tried to find one online and with no luck after a month of searching I placed a search on ebay to notify me if someone ever listed one.
THIS WAS 8 YEARS AGO.....
Never got a notification in all this time till last Thursday one finally popped up on ebay for sale and I wasn't holding back on buying it. Just so happen I won the auction and it should be here today. Im very anxious for this.

I received the clear air lid in early April. It's absolute crap and I probably will just save it till i take the time to fix it.
As an update
I can't seem to break away from the 2000 WS6 (Red) Ive been driving the crap out of it but it needs some love and attention too if im going to keep this up. I will be starting by replacing the full exhaust and going with the 1 7/8 stainless long tube headers from TSP and full exhaust with cutout. Once I have replaced that, then I will be fixing little odds and ends here and there on it. I plan to install a catch can for sure because the pcv system on this car will need to be fixed, the rubber hoses are just old and brittle and i'll decide what im doing from there on the rest of the stuff. Thought about deleting the pcv but im not sure yet, just running open breather kind of thing.

Great thread! Tinting the windows and using a sunshade might help the dash last longer.

Just bit the bullet and purchased a brand new exhaust for the RED WS6.
Purchased from Lonnie (he's awesome) at Texas Speed
1 7/8" Long Tube Stainless Headers
3" Y Pipe Stainless
Stainless 3" Cat Back with Manual Cut out.
Im excited to make it sound better. The exhaust currently on the car is a joke.

That's what im saying. The exhaust that is currently on the car is probably the cheapest setup I have ever seen someone use. The exhaust itself is now rusty causing an exhaust leak in a couple places and it not only sounds terrible but at WOT it sounds even worse and runs like crap.
