Default Thinking of buying an LT1 Camaro.

I've never owned a Camaro before and I'm considering purchasing one for a daily driver. I'm looking at a 1997 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 automatic. It's a white 30th anniversary edition T top car. The car has 110,000 miles on it. An older man owns it now and bought it from his sister who purchased it new in '97 at the dealership I work for. I've confirmed all that with Carfax and it's spot on with no accidents. All power options work great including a/c. From the pictures and talking to the guy on the phone the body and paint appear to be near immaculate. The interior is near immaculate also with some wear on the drivers seat bolster in the leather. Has almost new tires, new spark plugs, transmission fluid and filter was just changed, has always had Mobil 1 synthetic oil, rear diff fluid was just changed. The problems it has is a check engine light for the smog pump and the passenger window goes up and down very slowly.

I keep second guessing myself only because I have never owned a Camaro in my life. I've owned plenty of mustangs, Hondas, srt4's etc but never a Camaro. For the price I can get it for most people have told me it wouldn't make sense to not buy it because it's such a good price. I'm just wondering how reliable these cars are because I will be using it strictly as a daily driver and doing little mods to it here and there like exhaust, cold air intake, airfoil, gear, maybe a converter etc. I can get the car for $3,300. I will post pics of it soon. Please and thanks for the help in advance.

It's not a 30th anniversary edition, all 1997's had the embroidered headrests. For the price and condition, it's not too bad. Get it and enjoy it if you want to!

Looks like an unmolested, well taken care of car. For that price, I would grab it. The slow window motor is common on all 4th gens, just have to replace it. They are reliable cars, many very high mileage ones out there. Get it and fix the few problems and do the basic mods you mentioned.

LS1 is great for a daily driver. Only thing that sucks is the snow. Can never grip for anything

Thanks for the input guys that honestly helps with my decision. I won't be able to go look at the car until tomorrow after work because of weather conditions here but I definitely want to bring it home with me. From what I've gathered from a few others they're saying these things need to run on premium (93 octane) gas...any truth to this?

Nothing wrong with LT1s, they can be made respectable. Only issues now it finding someone to tune it. I put down 388/366 on my 94 and it was stock bottom end with my garage ported heads/intake and boltons. Looks clean.
