Default 1998 Sport Gold Metallic Camaro- Should i buy???

Today i was on break and was standing in the parking lot of the medical facility i had taken a patient to earlier and i heard some people talking loudly across the parking lot and I noticed the gentleman who was talkin to his wife was in a sport gold metallic camaro. I could only see the front end.

I walked over and it was a 6 chicken (6 cyl). I started to talk to him about it. Original owner, 111,000 miles on it. Auto. Cloth Interior and everything works. He bought it new in 1998 only uses it to travel back and forth out of state to see family 90% of the time. Little dent on drivers quarter above the rear tire and the rest is immaculate including the dash.

I jumped in over my head and asked if he was interested in selling and he said he would like to get around $2200 for it, i told him id think on it and let him know. He has everything on it since new.

THINK IT'S WORTH IT??? Being a V6 and all?

I smell an LSX swap in my future if I get it. It'd be nice to get one with a v8 from the factory but I know it will go for more than a couple grand

Overall, Sport Gold was a MUCH more rare color than petwer, since pewter continued to be offered all the way through 2002 and was one of the top 3-4 most common colors in '99 and up.

IMO, there is a reason why Sport Gold is rare, and was dropped as a color....the reason is because most people didn't/don't like it. This particular car in general is not any sort of investment grade or collectible 4th gen; it's an average mileage V6 Camaro in an unpopular color. The only reason to buy it would be if YOU personally like the car and want it for your own reasons, but it doesn't have the necessary factors to be a likely collectible in the future (if that is your goal).

Good luck with that search, there were only 29 SS Coupes and 7 Convertibles offered in (63U) Sport Gold Metallic.
