Default 1999 or 2000 Z28: which one and why?

If your choice was between a 1999 and 2000 Z28, which one would you chose, and why?

I'm looking to buy my second Camaro and I have seen 2 almost identical Z's. Pratically at the same Price.
Both are in great shape, almost stock and differ only slightly:

2000 has 140.000 km's, 1999 120.000 km's.
2000 has Magnaflow exhaust, 1999 single exhaust.
1999 comes with winter tires, 2000 not.

That's about it.

Let's see some choises!

Same car, same condition, close in price, I would go with the lower mileage one.

What color are they? Are they leather interior, because if so, 2000 started the ebony leather, which would almost be reason enough for me to buy the 2000. What transmissions? Both ttop?

If condition and price are equal, then it would all come down to optional equipment for me, specifically color and interior. If those are also the same, then I'd pick the one with the least amount of previous owners and/or the best documentation.

Both are black with Grey leather interiors.
Both t-tops, both very well maintened and documented.
Both 4speed automatic.

Almost the same...

What about total previous owners then? I've found that, as a general rule, cars that have had fewer owners usually end up being nicer and more mechanically sound. So with everything else being so incredibly similar, I would go with the one that's had fewer owners.

If they've both had the same amount of owners, then you can start nitpicking about the minor differences, such as the mileage and final price (however small the difference).

You mentioned "single exhaust" on the '99. Not a single LS1 Z28 ever came with a single outlet exhaust, so not sure what happened there. But if you like the aftermarket system on the 2000, then that's one less thing you'd have to buy assuming that you don't like the setup on the '99. Also, the '00 came with higher flowing exhaust manifolds, so if you don't plan to ever do headers then the '00 system is a little better in stock form.

It was [correctly] mentioned above that the interior color was changed between '99 and '00 (from "Dark Gray" to a darker, charcoal gray called "Ebony"). If this color difference matters to you, then perhaps this would be a good decision factor.

No. off owners is a good one.
Header info as well. Thanks!

I've seen more Euro spec cars with single exhaust.
Looks hiddeous imho...

I'd go with the lower miles as well; however, like RPM WS6 mentions with the number of owners, the 140k may be in better condition just based on how well it had been cared for. I'll take higher miles for better condition any day.

The charcoal interior was enough to sway me away from 98-99 cars, that and the non body color mirrors but on black that doesn't matter.

I was disappointed when they stopped painting the mirrors black on the V8 models in 2000. I always thought this was a nice touch, not much different than those who custom paint the tail panel in black IMO.

As for the interior, it's too bad that GM never offered a true black on any of the 4th gens instead of just dark gray and charcoal gray.

Stuff is so cheap for these cars that an interior swap and/or mirror swap can be done affordabley and easily. Just something to keep in mind when getting hung up on that sort of stuff

I have a 2000 and I put black mirrors on instead of the white ones..

but I guess having a white car I can get away with that more easily

I have a white car too. It looks unfinished to me since the mirrors flow into the fenders on camaros. I hate the black mirrors on c7s too
