Default new here, 2002 b4c in artic white

been lurking for some time now, I picked up a 2002 b4c in artic white (auto) back in june. I'm having some weird problems at the moment. There's a clunk when starting or stopping and when I let off the gas it vibrates? I guess...Car has 99k and completely stock down to the paper filter. Also as of yesterday, check engine starting blinking and really rough idle(almost kills the engine) on cold start up. When I rev it up it goes away. Pretty sure I have a bad lifter too but goes away after warmed up.

The blinking SES light always indicates a serious misfire. You will find a code P0300 (random multiple misfire) and a P030x (x = the specific cylinder that's causing the blinking.) You'll want to get a scanner to find the cylinder specific code and look at both fueling and ignition sources for the misfire. Could be a bad/dirty injector(s) or an issue with plugs/coils, or some other more serious cylinder issue (unlikely if it gets better with more rpm though.)

Might just be piston slap if it goes away when warmed up.

I need to change the plugs and wires. I believe they are the stock units. I have a diablo intune i1000 that I can read codes with but it comes up as no codes. its not setting a hard code to read. the flashing ses goes away when I start driving. just started this a few days ago. I have to drive this car this winter bc I can't get another car til feb I live in NE Pennsylvania. This car came from South Carolina .

Think I found the problem. When I unhook the mass air sensor it doesn't change how it's running nor does it throw a check engine light
