Default Upgrade Wheels and Tires

Okay, I have 45K miles on my 2002 35th Anniversary SS, and it is now time for my 3rd set of very soft Z-rated tires. This time, however, I am thinking of updating the wheels and going wide on the back. The math suggests I should replace the 275/40ZR17 tires on the back with 315/35ZR17 to maintain diameter (and speedo accuracy). Has anyone gone fatter on the back?

The spec.s I found online suggest the stock rims are 9j x 17 ET50, thus 50mm positive offset, PCD = 5 x 120.65mm, and 70.3mm centerbore, w/ M12 x 1.5 studs (whatever happened to merikan lug sizes?). Typically I would hold the offset, but being nominally a 1.6" wider tread, I might go with a slightly smaller offset. I plan on pulling the rears off, and measuring to be sure of the offset, and other spec.s.

No problem. Yeah, those sites are a great to work with if you know the stock settings. I've never found my self on the computer and near the car to really figure the exact details out. Here is another one to try.
