Default 2002 z/28

So I recently bought a Black 2002 Z/28 while I was in Japan from back in the states. I have some of the basic info of the car, and I had a question. The insurance company ran the VIN of my car, and they said it was a 2002 Z28/SS. I am having trouble finding out exactly what that means is different about the car. It doesn't have any of the SS external options that I've seen, it is just a stock Camaro that had the RS ground effects package. So can someone help identify exactly what is different about my car? Pictures and VIN below.
VIN: 2G1FP22G322146530

Nothing about the VIN number tells you specifically if the car is a Z28 or SS, only that it's a V8 Camaro. So your insurance company must be grouping the two together if they are not specifically asking you which one it is.

What you have pictured above is clearly a Z28 model with the SAP (Sport Appearance Package, RPO Y3F on your SPID sticker) and not an SS model (an SS would contain RPO WU8). In fact, the SAP was not even available on SS models from the factory (Y3F not available with WU8).

I figured it was just a Z/28, I just wanted to verify. Thanks!

So I've been looking online, and I actually found one or two articles concerning Camaros referred to as Z28/SS, stated as having been a model from mid 2001 to mid 2002. At the risk of sounding stupid, why would the vins get lumped together like that from the insurance agency? It even says that on the insurance card. I'm stuck in between right now, because as I previously stated I havnt seen this before and after what you said, I started to believe it more. But I seem to be finding stuff that says otherwise online and having insurance (I know they don't know **** besides the VIN but still) back it up only makes me want to figure this out 100% even more.

Technically for the 4th gen all SS models are "Z28/SS" because the SS package was an option for Z28s.
Your car is 100% a base Z28, not an SS. All SS camaros had the hood scoop, ss wing and 17x9" wheels.
For what its worth it doesn't matter as the SS models really did not make any more power and was more of an appearance package than anything else unless they got the better option suspension bits.

Those articles are simply presenting false or misleading information then. As mentioned above by JD AMG, technically *all* 4th gen SSs are Z28s as every SS model from this generation also shares the Z28 RPO (since they all started life as Z28s prior to SLP conversion.) But there was no separate or special "dual trim" package Z28/SS without SS badging in '01 or '02. In fact, the only year that was even badged as a "Z28/SS" was 1996.

Because the VIN simply does not include data about specific trim levels, which is basically what the SS package was. This same situation is also true for the Pontiac variants - the VIN does not tell you if it's a Formula or a Trans Am or a WS6, only that it's a V8 model, and it may be referred to as a Formula or Formula/Trans Am depending on the source. Add-ons such as Firehawk or WS6 trim won't be contained in the VIN, you can only verify that with the SPID sticker or a dealer printout of the RPOs such as listed above. Which leads to the next point....

There's nothing to be stuck on; as seen in the RPO data above, you have a base Z28 with the Y3F SAP package (which was not even available on SS.) If your car was in any way an SS model, it would have the "WU8" RPO in the list above, which it does not. No WU8 = No SS package, plain and simple (you can also verify this by checking the RPOs on the SPID sticker on the driver's door jamb.) There is absolutely nothing that can change this fact, and any source which states otherwise is simply incorrect.
