Default Blk02_SS build thread

After following this forum for the past 15 years and always being an f-body fan, I was able to purchase my dream car.

02' Camaro SS 6-speed, black. 33k miles, 2 owner, no rust, garage kept.

At first it was looking as if it would not work out due to the car being in Miami and me in Tennessee. I eventually decided to fly down with my brother and take the gamble and drive it back some 800 miles. Worked out flawlessly, car was worth the drive. The previous owners were great people, and I feel very lucky to now own this car.

Now trying to fight off the mod bug for now.

Sweet looking 02 SS! Congrats on on the car

These cars are a lot of fun, with good reliability when cared for, excellent performance and relatively simple.

Look forward to more updates and details.

Well not even a week after ownership, Idecided to do some appearance mods.

-Whistler mod (baked lights apart and painted).
-Smoked turn signals and rear marker lights w/ VHT.
-Black Billet Grille installed (painted behind grill satin black.)
-Black/silver SS emblems installed from Emblempros.
-Not pictured is the Autotrix passenger window re-wire. It helped, but didnt resolved the roll up issue, so I'm afraid I need a new motor. Plan to do this in the coming weeks.
Edit*** A couple of weeks later I replaced the motor with Dorman 742-101 motor and all is well and works.

Thanks! Yeah I was nervous making that long a trek for a car, but as soon as he pulled in I knew we made the right decision.

Awesome looking SS man. I like the mods too. Been looking into different things to do with my 00 Z28 headlights. I admit that I've never really been a fan of the stock headlights., but yours look nice and clear. Maybe if I replace mine I'll like them better. LOL

Anyway, beautiful car and congrats man! I'll bet we can't smack the smile off your face! LOL

Yep! Still grinning. 😁 I appreciate the compliments. And yes I have always like blacked out headlights on these cars so much better than stock. You should try it. If you take your time it is not that difficult. There are several whistler mod write ups you can follow.

I'll have to look into the "whistler mod". I've actually never heard of it. LOL So, I'll do a search on here and see what's up.

Thank you, and the same to you. Fiske wheels look solid on yours, and the stance 👌. Fiske are one of the best looking wheels on these cars IMO.

Glad I could help convince you. I've always liked both billet grille and slp grille, but no way do I want to drop 300+ on a slp grille when I like the black billet almost as much and it's 10x cheaper.

I sprayed behind my grill satin black. Some people use flat black. But I think the black billet grille shows up a little better on black cars when behind the grill is not gloss black. But to each their own. They still look good regardless.

Hey. Good find. I flew to South Florida 2 years ago and picked up my 2001 SLP SS with 6-speed . It had 36,800 miles. I live outside of Houston. The first day I drove it was 1000 miles. It has been in about 7 1000 miles drives since then. 28 mpg on my first tank of fuel at 80mph. The bug is hard to resist. I just bought everything that UMI sells and I have an LS7 that I’m getting ready for install. Have fun.

That's awesome! I think mine was like 900miles when it was all said and done. Totally worth it though, and made some good memories with my brother on the trip.
LS7 swap! 👍 That will surprise a few people. I'm jealous. Look forward to seeing that when it's done.

Emblempros: Top notch stuff! Recommend to everyone. Just finished all emblem swaps to black, most recent being the nose piece.
