Default Sunset Orange Z's

I love this color and the girl said i could look at LT1 cars and i know they released the color in 97, but it is REALLY hard to find them. I was wondering if anyone knew of what the production numbers are on that color? Did any 97 trans ams have it too? I want to find a Sunset Orange 6 speed hardtop, but i'm sure I am looking for a needle in a haystack. Any info on that color for the 97 only (cant get an LS1 car right yet) car is greatly appreciated.

no sense in dumping the money for a car and then going to get it painted.. money will be tight as it is trying to go bak to school.. plus i dont wanna settle for something i dont want and kick myself later.

They made a "cayenne red metallic" in '97, not sunset orange. Close to sunset though.

That E-bay 97 is a repaint. If you repaint a car you can make it any color you want. SOM was only factory in 01+02. Hugger was 99 only. The Cayenne red is more of a light burgandy than orange.

Not that I've heard of. Where'd you see that?

The color scheme for the 1997 30th Anniversary Camaros was white with hugger orange stripes. Notice that the seller said "anniver year car"... so it may not actually be an Anniversary Edition car, just one that happens to be from an anniversary year. (Nice )

Here's what the 30th Anniv Camaros looked like:
http://www.gmphotostore.com/prodinfo...umber=53217021
http://www.chevy-camaro.com/shop/amt...nniversary.htm
http://www.camarohighway.com/4thGen/#1997

Also note "the car has been totally painted"; it could have been repainted a different color than it was originally. (Edit: I see someone else made this point already while I was writing this post ) The colors in those photos are kinda iffy, it might be Cayenne Red. It's more red-looking than Sunset Orange: http://home.wideopenwest.com/~tchess/sig.jpg . If that is actually Sunset Orange with crappy lighting, it is definitely not the color that car had from the factory.

96-98 Camaros had Cayenne Red (called Red-Orange on the Firebirds)
99 Camaros had Hugger Orange
00-02* Camaros had Sunset Orange (also on the Firebirds)

* http://www.camaroz28.com/articles/20...rs/index.shtml : "A total of 13 Sunset Orange Metallic cars were built for the GM fleet [in 2000] in order to allow the color to be available at start-of-production '01. All will be driven by GM employees and most will be disposed of thru the GM auction program to its GM dealers."

That's all...

There were 2 LT4 "reverse" anniversary cars made for BFG as a special promotion by SLP.

incorrect. there where 13 SOM's offered in 2000. They were offered to GM Corp. personel as a test color and then put into full production for the '01 and '02 the final year

***Sorry, just noticed that ACW (the all-knowing ) stated this first.

Camarokidd24 - eh, not everything!

There was an inverse 30th Anniversary Trans Am in 1999, but I haven't seen anything about inverse 30th Anniversary Camaros. I haven't read as thoroughly about Camaros as about Firebirds, so it's possible I've overlooked it, but even now specifically searching for it, I haven't found anything yet. So I'll ask again, do you or slowmofo have a link about this, or remember where you saw it? Just like to know

I saw one of the reverse 30th Camaros at the Detroit Auto show in 97. I thought it was AWESOME but found out it was just a promo deal with 2 cars being built. There had been an article on them somewhere but it was so long ago I couldn't tell you where. I think all my car show pictures prior to 2000 are lost. I got divorced and I think the ex wife had stuck them away somewhere and didn't tell me.
