Default Pics of my 81

I was bored tonight. Tell me what you think:

Yeah, I know some of em are dark - besides that, what do you guys think? If you wanna see more pics, lemme know (these are the pics that don't show the bad - such as: cracking L88 hood scoop, little rust on each quarter panel, and some paint bubbling on the rear bumper)

So I guess no one appreciates (or even cares) about the last year Chevy produced the 2nd gen?

Again no love for 2nd Gen's. I feel for ya I have '79 with pretty much similar setup except the rear. I like my LS1 but I love my 2nd Gen. Hey it could be worse, you could have a 3rd Gen.

hey what no love for thirdgens 7998 ??? pfft

I like the car, but I'd hide the wiring for the guages a little better down low and how can you even see that tach mounted on the floor for shift points?

I love 3rd gens. Yours is badass BTW.

2nd gens are cool too. As for the '81 above, I think I'd pick a different wheel style. Bigger/wider wheels/tires would really give the car an attiude change. And the pics are really too dark to show off the car much.

that is a very nice 81 you got there. much nicer than my 81 trans am, its being restored with a 427 aluminum headed BBC though. but im sure that is a good runner, ever get it dynoed? very clean for a late 2nd gen unrestored. they are getting harder to find and there is nothing wrong with a nice classic look with the craggers. that is nicer than 85% of the 81s on the road i see. ever run it at the track? that thing must be a topend screamer with those 2.56's what kinda top speed does that thing got?

For the record, I'm not an extremely big fan of the 3 gens. Let me further explain: Everybody and their brother seems to have one (around here, at least). 95% of the ones around here are rattle traps. I DO appreciate seeing a clean 3rd gen - such as some of the ones owned by members of LS1tech. Edit - xpndbl3, you have such an example!!!

I want a set of 17" TT's. I've been (slowly) trying to find a second job (I'm Active Duty AF) so I can get new set of rims and tires, axles (30 spline), posi, gears (either 3.42 or 3.73s), have my tubes welded (I know it's a little excessive at the power level I'm at, but I figure, hey if I spend the money on it now, I won't have to worry about it for a while), and autometer gauges - hopefully all of that before July rolls around.

As for the wiring, I can't see it when I'm sitting in the car, so I don't really care about it for the time being...that and since I wanna do autometer gauges, I don't see the point in re-running all the wiring under the carpet (to hide it).

I just wanted some opinions, so thanks. And yes, it's an un-restored car (only having a new paint job, just over 8 years ago)
xpndbl3 - I take a quick glance down. When I get new gauges, I'm gonna incorporate a hidden shift light with em.

transamman400- 1/4 times (at 5kish feet) will be attached to my sig (no matter how bad they are) just as soon as I get em. Hoping to get it dyno'd.....just so I know. It has the gearing to run between 150-160, but I have no idea how fast I've had it (85mph speedo...which will hopefully be relieved of duty soon)

Hell, I don't see why so many are being so critical of this ride. Seems to be better than average condition for its year and I get a feel of old school muscle when I see it. So to you, Nate81Camaro, congrats; looks like a good 2nd Gen to me.

Sweet!

Later 2nd gen camaros are definitely overlooked. They'll come around.

Wasn't '81 the first year GM cars became computer controlled...

I like the look of the blacked out grilles/ light bezels of the Z-28's. Have you considered painting yours flat black (or low gloss black)?

My first car was a '78 Camaro type LT. Had T-tops and the earlier style dash. It was a fun car. Except for the luggage rack. That was the first thing to go.

Really appreciating the kudos!!!

Club - it's just an L88 scoop on a stock hood. I haven't been able to find anyone that makes one with the L88 scoop on it that isn't a lift off.

Tuske - originally, I believe that my car was computer controlled. It should of had a TH350C (lockup convertor) in it, but it has a regular old TH350 tranny.
As far as blacking out the grille and light bezels; maybe when I get it painted a different color (wanna go a dark deep purple with black stripes) I'll do that, but I don't think it'd look good on a metallic gray car.

Here are some of mine,

Have fun with your 2nd gen,
I would suggest some paint and a motor so large that LS1's will tremble!

Actually anything from these guys would do: http://rehermorrison.com/

www.nastyz28.com is a great site! for 2nd gens
