Default buying a 99 SS.... but is it worth it?

hey guys, today i went to test drive a 99 SS M6 silver, with 125000 miles on it. It is also a salvage title. I want an LS1, and salvage cars are cheap and can make a good deal if they arent pieces of crap. It was salvaged by someone in a front end collision at 33k miles. then this lady bought it and drove it ever since with no problems she says. I drove the car and it seemed to do fine, no grinds or anything. The main problem.... it has NO TTOPS! and she is asking 6k for it. i have already told her that i would be willing to go half on a diagnostic check though. what do you guys think? is the car worth it? How much should i be willing to pay? ...im thinkin 5 or 5.5k

A4 or M6 - that has a lot to due with value. I think 5500 would be about right for a 125k salvage car.

yea i think that 5-5500 would be a good deal for a M6 LS1 SS. As long as everything seemed fine on the test drive and the body is alright then i say GO FOR IT!!

Normally i would stay away from salvage cars but it sounds like this car has proven that it can be driven.

i wouldn't be nervous about the salvage title. You said it got the salvage title at 33k right? Then it made it another 92k to 125k. So i think if it lasted that long an was a salvage its probably a solid car.

i build salvage cars and i have seen some that looked like they hit a deer about 30 and get salvage titles, its basically up to the insuranes co, and if they are 5 years or newer, usually.still sounds like a good price salvage or not.

well i bought it the other day, and i couldnt be happier. there were a few minor problems with it, like the window motor not wanting to roll all the way up all the time, and one of the fog lights was bent inward, but now i fixed it so you cant even tell. It also has a warped rotor, but other than that, it drives no different than my other 99 ss did
