I understand you have questions regarding the 9310 material used in the wave trac. I called Wavetrac and the response that I got was that they are heat treated differently than ring and pinions and the 9310 gears works best for the friction that they need to work correctly. They worked at this for a long time and they are confident that the gears are plenty strong otherwise they would have not put a lifetime warranty on the unit.
