Default How low is too low?

Just finished bolting in a LQ4 with a 4l60 in my 68 firebird, and my LH8 oil pan is hanging real low, like 4 inches of ground clearance low. Anyone else have their oil pan this low?

That would be a little too low for my tastes with a cast aluminum pan, without anything like a crossmember in front of it.

One reason I would never use a truck pan on an A-Body swap. I didn't want any pan to hang below the crossmember, so I went with a stock F-body pan. I think I have ~4" to the bottom of the crossmember.

I had a truck oil pan on mine too. It was too low for me (below the crossmember) so I put on a F-body oil pan.

Off the subject, but why is your sway bar upside down and on the bottom instead of the top of the lower control arm?

Probably the same reason I can't even fit a swaybar on mine. Really low.

Dang stealth71, after looking at your picture NOT on my phone, I think I am going to try your swaybar trick when I get home.

I ended up modifiying my LQ4 truck pan. I tried every GM pan I could get and nothing would fit the first gen and not hang down. The CTS-V was the closest fit but it hit the steering linkage, if you had a rack and pinion it would work.

When these things get low you run into tie rod to sway bar clearance issues. This is one of the solutions so I'm trying it out.
