Default engine starts to tick after 15 minutes of driving ls1 240sx

so the engine started the tick the other day after driving for 15 minutes. I came on here and searched and found a few threads that said to check my spark plug wires, i bought new plug wires and bam problem solved..... or so i thought. The tick came back again today and sounds like a bad lifter. Every time i search on here about lifters and ticking noises people say their lifters make noise on start up and goes away after a while, mine is the exact opposite. so if anyone knows what this problem is please let me know, Thanks.

does the ticking get faster with engine speed? if you have stock pushrods that might be the problem. you probably bent them while having some fun.

you would think it would always make that noise if it was a pushrod, but it doesnt make it until ive been driving it for a while. then it gets really loud

i just finished the swap and do not have an oil pressure gauge, the guy that tuned my car with hp tuners said the oil pressure looks good and it runs great besides the ticking. does anyone know how i can hook up a autometer mechanical oil pressure gauge to this ls1?

You can drill/tap the crossover/blockoff plate at the dr side/rear of the engine block. There's a nipple sticking out on that plate. You can remove the plate, and do the tap. Street & Performance has an adapter fitting for this mod.

Or just remove the factory oil pressure gauge sending unit and get it adapted to an AN line for the gauge or 1/8th npt what ever they use.

do you still have that little air box on it? i cant remember the real name. its between the intake and driver head. little bigger then a medicine bottle, black.

mine ticks too and i tracked it back to that. mines cracked so i think it louder then normal. maybe the same on yours.

Default had this problem

sounds like the oring on the pick up tube that goes into the oil pump. oil gets hot and thins and gets through there causing this problem. happened to me.
