My bro and I recently started the no paint posse. Looks like you are a candidate as well.

Stock pistons/compression yes. Only things not stock on the engine are the valve springs and ARP rod bolts, well and injectors.

Each and every year it is a new car. I love it, not a 3 year build and too pretty to touch.

No paint posse is right!!! All original 1972 paint.

Did you fabricate the merge collector for the turbo flange.... if not where did you buy it? Looks sharp!

Can you elaborate what the process was for welding the Vbands onto the stock 5.3/6.0 exhaust manifolds? ie did you heat them up with a torch and then weld on the Vbands to prevent cracking? I've heard that cast iron can be a PITA to weld onto.

Is that a 3" downpipe or larger? It'll rip with some tuning and high octane. I'm sure it does already in its current form.

How much do you have into the 4L80E conversion? Very key to the build up to keep it streetable.

I had a friend of mine Aaron @ Weirtech build it. I was in a time crunch, was buying the flanges from him anyways so I had him build it to my specs. Great guy to deal with.

The stock manifolds where smoothed, cut the flange off and put a bevel on them. The v bands were tacked on, placed in an oven for half hour, 1/2 welded but in sections, placed back in oved for half hour, then welded fully, oven, then welded on the inside(not needed really). It was a long process. Also these were done by another friend Chris @ Higher Arcing. I never had a heating means at the time so I passed it off to him. I'm confident that being careful with a rose bud torch I could do them just fine. I deal with cast iron at work quite a bit, afterall I am a welder lol.

It is a 3" downpipe. I was going to step to a 4" this year but am focussing on other aspects. The car is in the 500rwhp range now and hauls ***. It is a complete riot.

What I have into the car right now isn't accurate in the sense that I have done my exhaust 4 times, 3 sets of wheels 3 different suspension set ups, 3 rear ends, etc. But I am sitting at the north end of 30,000. The car was give nto me in my grandfathers will so that does not include the value of the Chevelle.

Also, incredible build. Your fab skills are outstanding. If I may ask, where did you learn to do all that?

I still have the covers, they will be going back on for next year, just left them off incase I had any issues with the engine.

Thank you sir, To be on honest, it was my first time cutting tubing up. It was tricky at times but I caught on quite fast. The welding part was easy enough seeing how I am a welder during the day. Tubing sure is an art work though!

Darn, I was going to see if you were selling the covers. Those covers were only found on the 02 LQ9's

Sick setup. One of my dream cars is a 68-69 Chevelle with a turbo LS motor in it. And my dad just happens to have a 68 malibu sitting in the barn, so maybe one day...., anyway nice ride.

V band parts came from racing-solutions. Yahoo it.

The crossmember I fabricated myself. It consists of 3x1x.188 wall HSS mild steel. I split it in half and made a 3.5" x 3/16" flat bar slip over with bolts to bolt it together in the car.

Dyno video at 6.8psi I believe.

Do it! I have never looked back. The car fires up cold, hot, wet, snowing, etc. Makes the power and gets the gas mileage!

Thanks bud! My buddy over @ Horsepower Solutions tuned it for me on the dyno. Did a great job. Tirefryin_s10 and Blackx on here are the tuners.

the tig was found on ebay. Brand is "Smiley Tools". All of the consumables cross over to miller so its handy. Yea it will **** the bed one day, but it did a pretty darn good job for 225 shipped LOL.

mmm launching is a bit tricky... Its the lag almost helps on the streets though for traction. I can get roughly 0-1psi if I brake boost it hard enough from a dig. Then it really depends if I hook or not. lol.

I want the stock stall for auto-x and open track events.
