Anybody use a Truck harness in their swap??
Im looking to use the harness that came with my 2002 LQ4 from a GMC Yukon. Id be putting this motor into my 1990 Firebird which originally came with a 3.1L V6 and just had a 3.8L Turbo V6. I have a few questions;
1. How/where did you splice it in? C101 on the car?
2. Did you use the truck underhood fuse box?
3. Does anybody have a wiring diagram/pinout to splice into C101 on the Firebird?
Thanks,
Chris

i used the truck harness but the harness main block and PCM and stuff goes on the drivers side originally. So i had to overlay the harness over my engine, which doesnt look bad but not as clean as an LS1 harness would.
I did use the 5.3 block, and after hours and days and weeks of reading i found out you only need like 3 wires to actually connect to get it to fire up and to run with a auto tranny.
You have to of course have 12v constant sorce to the block, and then 12v ignition, and then you fuel pump. You also have to take one wire from another plug ( i would have to go back and look ) but it to send power to plug "E" on the automatic tranny plug.
It's very easy. Just took alot of time to read and its not so bad. I did all that swap in my 1990 BMW e30 body and now im going to attempt a 1993 BMW 325is e36 ( little bigger body so it shouldnt be as hard ) lol

1.I had to pull wires from multiple connectors, due to the Impala having a different wiring setup.
2. I'm using a harness from a 2005 2500 HD, but I grafted it into the wiring for the Impala SS fusebox. Only took me about a week to splice/convert my harness, and thats just working on it after work and weekends.
3. I don't have the one for the Firebird, but I do have the one for most of the trucks though. I just gotta look through all these PDFs
