There are several belt drive pumps available. I thought the GM distrib. front timing cover had a provision for a mechanical pump as well, the distrib. drive looks like it has an eccentric to move a mechanical pump.
I think I'll do some research on that front cover.

wow, that front cover is over $400. Thanks for the heads up.
I think I'll search RacingJunk or ebay for a used belt drive pump. I'd like to run one simple pump to feed motor and nitrous plate, with enough flow for E85 later possibly.

I'm running a Holley 97gph electric and with 500-550HP i have no issues. ran 3/8" braided steel line about 8" with a filter to fuel pump back by tank, then the same line down the whole car into a dual feed Holley 750 vacuum secondary carb. I ran 10 awg copper house wiring (hot and ground) to the fuel pump from a 30amp switch going directly to the battery. I see 14.2Volts at the pump running, and 8psi at the carb. No fuel starvation issues at all and i was launching it hard on the slicks i had, i monitor with a dual wideband setup as well.
