Default Frst gen T56 shifter location with Holley mounts

Did a lot of searching and never really got good info, so I decided to post photos of my '68 with an LS1 and T56 out of a 2002 Trans Am mounted with Holley/Hooker engine mounts, trans crossmember and long tube headers.

Measurement taken from center of raised bead just behind the front floor seam on the tunnel.

14.75" from center of "bead" to the front of the shifter hole.

Hole is approximately 4.25" in diameter, I'd use a 4.5" hole saw if it had been available.

Shift lever stub coming out of the transmission is slightly off center of the trans tunnel. Slightly closer to driver's seat.

My car is a factory air car and I had to move the back two passenger side coils due to interference between the coils and the evaporator box. This also required longer plug wires on those 2 coils. I used plug wires off a 5.3 truck on those 2 cylinders.

Hope this helps somebody.
