Default Power steering pump ?'s

I was curious as to if there was a difference between power steering pumps between years/models of LSx series vehicles, and how will it compare to my stock one (86 monte carlo). I know some vehicles came with electronic steering so Im wondering whether or not I need something special for the swap. Let me know. Thanks guys, Sam

I used the 2001 truck power steering pump in my El Camino swap and it seems to work just fine. The pump does have a solenoid on it for some type of variable effort electronic steering, but I just left that unplugged so it always gets full pressure. I didn`t really notice any steering difference when I swapped from the gen I SBC to the LSx.

x2...I just think its odd that you didnt notice a difference between the LSx and SBC. You would think it would make some kind of difference..

Internally the power steering pump for the 2001 truck looks very similar to the 85 el camino power steering pump. The tank is differently shaped, but I don`t think that they updated the actual pump very much.
