Default Which rear end gear in a LS1 powered Rambler?

I need help selecting a gear ratio before I buy a rearend for my project. It is a 66 Rambler American with a stock (for now) 99 LS1 and 6 spd. I believe the 99 Camaros had 3.42 gears. Do most guys stick with these or does something like a 3.73 perform much better? My car is about 800 lbs lighter than a Camaro. I'm not worried about milage and the car will hopefully see some strip runs. Tire size will be close to stock Camaro. I've never driven a LS 6spd car so I need advice.

With a 6 speed having a 50% OD you could pretty reasonably run a 4.10 gear. But with the light weight of your car, 3.73 would be very comfortable too.

If you're going to buy gears regardless, I wouldn't put in 3.42s.

I ran 4.56s so i could run a 30" tire lol. Same gearing a 3.73s and a 26" tire. I would rather have more rubber rotating gearing me down.
