lq4 coolant crossover tube
I did a search but didn't find what I was looking for. the engine is gonna be carb'd. Where do I run the coolant crossover tube to on the front of the heads. As far as I can gather, It's gotta be conected to the radiator somehow? Enlighten me please. Thnks

There is info on this in the "FAQ and Hall of Fame Sticky" at the top of the forum. Also search this forum for "Coolant Steam Vent" and you will find quite a bit of info. I drilled and tapped the top of my water pump and that worked fine. Others have found connectors from Corvettes or from jagsthatrun.com that will splice it into the radiator hose. In some cases GM has connected it to a heater hose. Lots of options

Here are a few pics of the way I did my late model pump. I think the guys with the earlier LS1 pump tap the flat boss beside the upper hose part of the casting. It is not difficult to do. It may sound silly, but I rolled a piece of cardboard into a tube and pushed it into the upper hose tube. Then I used heavy grease on the drill and tap to keep any shavings from going into the pump. By drilling and tapping right through the cardboard tube, there's not much chance of getting anything in the pump. I would caution you to measure carefully to place the hole just past the point where the steel tube for the upper hose is pressed into the casting. Good luck! Ron
