Default Thermostat housing options LS1

I've seen people with factory thermostat housings that aim straight forward insted of to the pass side. What vehicle did those come on?

The S&P one is better imo. It uses the stock thermostat. Make sure you get one for the correct version of your water pump. Early ones are different than replacements.
The CSR one uses an old style gm thermostat, so I don't think the heater core will work right since the inlet and outlet will be in same space. Not a 100% sure of this, but the stock stat is longer and the back part separates inlet/outlet to heater.

I have been using the CSR housing for 6 months with no problems.I would recommend it over the S&P for cost and with the CSR for $7 you can drop in any therrmostat temp you want.Originally I ran a 180 degree now I am running a 160 degree.

I'm just wondering does your heater work properly. If you look in water pump housing you will see that the inlet out let are right next to each other in same chamber without stock stat

Yes heater works as it should. The inside of the CSR housing is machined to hold the thermostat like a sandwich between the machined lip on the water pump and the machined lip on the housing.Nice Vette!

If you look inside the water pump there is another mating surface where the extended part of stock stat mates. Maybe I'm not understanding how it works, but looks to me like this is what separates heater core in and out.
If it wasnt there the inlet and outlet would be in same space so how would coolant circulate?
