Default Picture of connection from Power Booster to back of 5.3

I want to make sure I hook my booster into the right spot. Does anyone have a pic of the back of their motor without the covers on, so I can see where you put your vacuum line from the brake booster?

ya, and depending on model truck it came out of, you might have to change the "nipple" so you can get the vacuum hose on it.
On mine I had to remove the one that was in it, truck had hydroboost brakes, just bought the right fitting part at gm dealer.

OK, I think I know which one you are talking about, here is a picture of it on mine, but it has a very strange connector, not something I would expect a vacuum line to hook to. Sorry for the quality of the pictures, blame blackberry I guess.

I also have a line off the trans, it tees, one end is in this picture below, just blocked off, and the other end goes no where, anyone have a clue on this?

Thanks,

Orlando

That line isn't blocked off, the white looking piece is the tranny vent line. If there's a T in the line, the other tube probably led to a transfer case or something..

OK, so the upper one is the vacuum line. How the heck are you guys hooking vacuum line to that thing? It's like some kind of quick connect looking thing.

I think it's broken. There should be a nipple on the end the fitting for the hose to hook to. You'll have to get another fitting.

OMG, thank you thank you thank you. I thought I would never figure this thing out. I guess the only thing left is to figure out the darn part number and how to pull that thing out without breaking the plastic manifold. You wouldn't want to sell me yours?

I tried to take mine out, it spins around but didn't want to come out, so I'm pretty sure it just snaps in, but I don't know how to get it out.

Yea, mine does that too, and I have been afraid to pull it out. I am just going to bite the bullet and pull hard. I'll let you know what happens.

If it dosen't come out, it'll look like this! There's still part of the fitting in this one, and I still cant figure out how it comes out. Where are you located? might be easier to change the intake, let me know.

Darn, it was a plug. I guess it came off a truck that had hydroboost, which would explain the weird side port coming out of the power steering pulley. I am pretty sure I am now completely screwed. I have more of a piece in there then you had. Here are some pics of what I got out:

So at this point I have a gaping vacuum leak in the intake that I have no idea how to seal or get a new plug into. Worst part is with it in the truck, it is close to the firewall, so not a ton of room to work in there.

I wonder if the material is durable enough to tap and have a metal fitting w/nipple installed.

Something like this perhaps?

OK, so....what is easier, pull the motor again is my guess....or pull just the intake with the motor in place?

It would definitley be easier to pull just the intake. Sounds like you had the set up I was looking for, I need a power steering pump with the extra return line. I have an intake if you want to do some trading?

Wait Wait....so you are going to send me an intake and a Power Steering pump for just a hydroboost power steering pump? LOL, I would need another pump in return, and I am pretty sure that is not what you ment, so I guess we cant make that work.

I have a pump with one return and an intake with the fitting, that I would trade for your pump, just pay shipping. Or if your close...

You know, I think I may just be an idiot. I have a hydro boost unit out of a mid '80s Chevy truck, and I could have saved us all this headache by plugging it in! LOL, I want to make sure we are talking about the same pump. I have the one with the high pressure line and one normal line out the back, then a 3rd line out the side, that is the one you are looking for right?

Yeah, that's the one I need. Are you sure it's off a 5.3? All the hydroboost trucks I've seen were 6.0. Any way, this is what I've got. Not sure the corner of the pump is supposed to be bent over or not, but I don't think it hurt anything.

Really,

Now I wonder. I was told (I got it from a salvage yard) that it is an 05 5.3 flex fuel out of a Silverado. It is definitely flex fuel. It has the hydro boost setup on it for sure. Is there an easy way to know engine type by the serial numbers all over this thing?
