Default My Nova's LM7 Transplant

I am swapping a 2004 5.3 (LM7) into my 1974 Chevy Nova project
The actual swap will be happening at the end of this month,
but here are the "before" pictures

That should be awesome. I'm in the process of doing a 5.3 and a T56 into my 65 Buick Skylark. Good luck.

Being in college means everything's on a budget. My Nova has a nice TH350 in it, so I'm just going to use that for now; but I'm definitely going to upgrade down the road.

I understand that. I already have a stalled auto in my Camaro though. I'm going the six speed route mostly because I want to cruise this car not race it and it will be fun smashing on the occasional cocky kid who thinks it is a grandma car.

Haha sounds like a gameplan. My Nova's my only car so I'm forcing myself to get the swap done as soon as possible

I need to get my 5.3's PCM programmed for a manual tranny so it'll work with my TH350, can someone recommend a tuner? Thanks

I'm also doing a 5.3 transplant but with a 4l60e into my 88 Monte SS. It'll be sporting a T70 turbo (Parish inspired). Good luck with the build and keep us posted.

If you need a low cost mail tune, try Jesse at Wait4meperformance.com did everything i requested and a basic tune for $85.00 (w/shipping back). Free updates if you can provide the cam spec and what you O2 /Map looks like.

I've tried e-mailing, PMing, and calling Jesse. No replies to both e-mail and PM, and the number provided on his website go straight to a full voicemail box..

This link should help. Or check the one in my sig. 74's share the basic subframe as my 71 and frojoe's 72.

I plan to do the wiring myself, but we'll see when the time comes. It looks like a big job, but if you're on a budget and have the time and desire, I say you've got only a bunch of man-hours (and maybe some sanity) to lose.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate it. I have plenty of time, determination, and friends that specialize in wiring and fabrication . I'll be picking up the engine this weekend

If you were to depin the circuits from the pcm connector that pertain to the transmission and had your vats disabled you will be fine.

If it is not programmed to a manual transmission you will just set circuit codes for things like shift solnoids and trans temp sensor. Your engine will not be in limp mode nor will your TAC be effected. If you have a check engine light connect (which i assume you wont?) you will never know.

All you HAVE to do to make the engine run/work is disable VATS
