Default Oil gauge for 3rd gen F body/ LS1 swap

I was wondering if the factory 6.0/LSX oil pressure sensor will be accurate with the factory 0-60 gauge on a 91 Z. I've heard of people saying its accurate with the 0-80 gauge but not sure about mine. I have an adapter to use the original sensor but I think it would look cleaner to use the LSX one. If you have any experience with this let me know please. Thanks

I never tried using the original LS1 sender, as I had read it would not work. I instead took the fitting off that is above the oil fiter, tapped it with 1/8 NPT and put my sender there.

from all the reading i have done from people that have tried, it works fine. only problem you will run into is lsx motors run 40-80psi of oil pressure, so using the stock 0-60 guage, your psi will be maxing out the guage every time you hit the gas.

Most people think it wont work since the newer clusters are controlled by the ECM. the oil pressure guage runs right off the sensor on LSX motors, it does not run through the ECM.

+1 for a stock LS1 sender running the factory gauge without problem

Does anyone know which wire at the bulkhead connector would be for the volt gauge. I think it might be the brown wire but im not sure.

G8 is not for the ALT gauge (voltmeter)

The volt gauge on the 3rd gens is supplied power through the gauges fuse in the IP fuse panel.

G8 looks to be a switch to turn the alt on/off as shown here

You are correct

FWIW, for 90-92 LS swaps, G8 is only used for 12V IGN on the fan relays. The alt function is not used
