1972 Short bed 6.0/4l80e 11 Attachment(s) I started working on this last week. I've had it about 3 months, but have been lacking motivation. Well with the weather getting warmer I figured I should start it already. 1972 Chevy short bed getting a 2003 lq4. I was looking for a 5.3, but came across the 6.0 for a good price, so I couldn't pass it up. It.s got almost 80k on it, but I got to hear it run and drove the truck it was in, which was a first for me because all the others I never heard run. I've also got a fleetside bed for it because I'm not real fond of step sides. http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...0.jpg~original Attachment 665974 Attachment 665975 Attachment 665976 This is what had to go! 250 six cylinder, but it did have p/s, p/b, and an automatic. Attachment 665977 And when I was tearing it apart, I found this, an Arkansas battery tray! Attachment 665978 Out with the old...... Attachment 665979 and in with the new..... well, newer anyway! did you have to quote the whole post to ask that? haha Good looking truck are you going to paint it or leave it? |
I actually just moved from fayetteville and I miss it tons...dallas blows hard. That is going to be a cool ass ride when you get finished! |
What mounts did you use? Whats you fuel system setup? |
I used the stock engine stands with poly mounts with the Transdapt conversion plates. Fuel system will be an external fuel pump using the stock fuel lines and tank |

7 Attachment(s) Been slowly plugging away on this truck. I got the engine all figured out and pulled everything back out to start cleaning everything up. I had a little bit of welding to do to the bottom of the cab, so this seemed like the easiest way to do it. Attachment 665984 pretty solid cab though. Attachment 665985 Also got the engine painted, after cleaning the crap out of it and masking it off. Attachment 665986 Then some etch prime. Attachment 665987 And finally Chevrolet engine orange. My camera is making it look kinda pink, but it's very orange! Attachment 665988 Attachment 665989 Attachment 665990 |
3 Attachment(s) Got most of the engine accessories back on. Now it's time to push it in the corner and get the body work done so I can install it. Attachment 665991 Attachment 665992 Attachment 665993 |
Oh shit... just realized I saw your truckster on the power tour, you going next year? The new truck looks great, jealous of your swaps! |
