Default few more pics of my 84 camaro on a track day

Here's a shot of the lazy launch, just spun the slicks, no weight transfer at all off the footbrake. 22-30mph winds and a cold day(mid 50s) meant no traction or heat in the track at the rental we had. Tried different tire pressure and launch rpm, but the surface wasn't sticky to my shoes so I knew the tires wouldn't want to hook either.

few motor shots for those that are interested

Dang it - "track day" to me generally means road racing, not drag...! Also - am I seeing things, or is there something transparent on your breather?

Car looks good! (except for the lettering slapped over it...)

Ya it's part of the plastic wrapper that the breather was shipped in. I didn't want to scratch the chrome up too badly before I had it all together so I left it on there. What lettering is on the car? The track numbers? Those are just shoe polish, but you have to have it to show that you teched in. Oh you might mean the photo companies attempt to make me buy the pic and not post it. Well I bought the 8x10 for $20 but then to buy the jpeg image they wanted even more money, so forget that.

I must have been lucky then the track was hooking good for me. I had the street tires on and was running at 20 psi. As long as I heated them up a little I was fine, if I didn`t burn um a little they would spin on the 1-2 shift. Couldn`t seem to get below a 13.6 though

I don't think your idea of hooking and mine are the same. I'm sure my 60' time was a lot better than yours, but not as good as the car's setup is capable of. Our black 2nd gen camaro didn't hook as well as we do at route 66 typically either. Another reason is street tires tear up the tracks surface and vht prep which screws up us slick cars.

Yep my 60`s are pretty bad, 2.0 to 2.1 the stock f-body torque convertor doesn`t help a lot. But being that its a DD and I tow with it I don`t think I should step the convertor up...and yet I want to at the same time Same dilemma for me with headers

i am in the process of gutting an 84 camaro that i picked up for $100. it was a complete 2.8l/700r4 car. thinking of doing either a 5.3 or 6.0 with a carb set-up in it. do you know if the k-member in it will work or do i need to find one from a v8 car? i know i need to replace the front coil springs. I just got all of the wiring yanked out from under the hood last night. i am going to rewire the whole car.

kmember will work, you'll need to move the motor mounts to the front holes. spohn makes a nice set as does hawks, you will also have to notch the back 1" of the kmember out in a "v" cut to make the camaro oil pan fit with good clearance. nice pics on thirdgen.org of this. The v6 and ls1 weigh around the same so I wouldn't swap springs just yet.

quick fuel carb actually. It runs alright, I still need to lean out the jetting a bit but that's about it. I'm sure when I lean it out the tip-in stumble might show up, we'll see it's got a good sized converter in it, so it might mask the problem, the wideband will show me if anything goofy is going on at least.

Cool. Well if you get the tip in stumble you could prolly retune the accel cam or squirter or poss the arm spring to get rid of it. Thats what I had to do. That carb is way nicer than mine. I bet you can adjust the **** out of everything. Can you change emulsion bleeds in the primary block?
