Default Importance of proper oil pan selection

I kicked around oil pan ideas for awhile until I settled on the Champ/Autokraft pan. The pan tucks up nicely behind the engine crossmember and does not protrude under it. I crawled over a speed bump a few weeks ago and caught a bolt head (bolted down bump) to the trans pan, which sits just a tad lower than the engine oil pan. The result was 12 quarts of ATF on the pavement, another pan, and another 12 quarts to total just over $100. Who knows how expensive and time consuming the oil pan would have been if it would have broke. So when you look at that low hanging GM pan and say it will be fine remeber this!:
