looks awesome man. the one thing i noticed was your cage

depending on who you drive with (what organization) it may not be legal. your main hoop diagonal brace is supposed to be 1 piece. just something to think about before you get it finished.

best of luck

I Love that body style. The stock powertrain put me off though...NOT THIS ONE!

A little update.. Got the rear end and subframe out and ready for sandblasting. Also brand new poly bushings all around. I gathered a few parts for the frontend. Picked up a whole foxbody GT rack system, pump and all, and ordered 04' 5lug spindles and brakes. The steering is going to be tricky now seeing how the shaft has to go through the motor mount. I think I've figured a way around it, but any ideas would be great...

as far as the cage goes its legal as far as NASAproracing's (http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/ccr.pdf) rules for what I intend to do. It says that it has to be one continious path..not one continious bar. I'm not too worried about it right now. I just want to do open track days(time attack)/drift days with it. Eventually...if i don't destroy it, I'll move into a different class. Its going to be tough because of the extent of modifications, it would put me into an unlimited class, so i would be against fast fast cars...But like i said thats a looong time from now...

poor car....

I'd do this build if I could find a car. I loved the '88 Conquest TSi 5-speed I drove.

those pics are inspiring me. i almost bought a starion, but being in high school it seemed a little impractical as a DD. there's one sitting behind my dad's shop waiting for me when i have the extra money. white 86 5 speed red interior in great condition. guy said i could have it for 1500. i seem to remember it being very low mileage as well.

have you thought of doing a motor plate like mine? i did some measuring and the stock steering with fit with a autovram pan and engine moved back like your setup.. i will be moving mine back when the lsx motor is done and redoing the setup soon need to make more room for a huge / twins turbos

yeah I thought abour doing a plate, and its still a possiblity. But I am going to run the car on the street quite a bit as well, so I don't want it to be to crazy. As far as the stock steering, its in the trash. I just don't like the set up. The rack and pinion will give me way better feedback, and be better in the long run. I really want to keep the vette oil pan for now. I would love to see some pics of your set up

Another vote for plates here. I don't think it would be as bad as you think. That would allow maximum flexibility for engine mounting.

sick project man, cant wait to see how it comes along.
always loved those cars, I agree some weight redux is important and also agree doing just the rear in lexan might not even be worth the effort/expense.

Hoping to get some stuff done tonight, going away for 2weeks(kinda sucks) but I should be able to gather some more parts. About the engine plate I have no idea, if anyone knows of a link to get them please post it up. I'm thinking that might be my best option. Thanks...

Ok heres what I did today... Got my spindles and rotors in the mail today... All I need now is some coilovers with the correct specs. Believe it or not, it all works, (other than the balljoints being different) but everything clears, and thats with the ST swaybar. Obviously nothing is tight, its just mocked up...but its going to work.... fox body rack, 04 rustang 5lug spindles, and I will be using 13" svt brakes.(these are only 11"s)
Oh yeah and those are rear SHP 9" wheels upfront...stock is 7" SHP's are 8"...

herra flush and there is a 15mm spacer on the disks... not sure if I'm going to need it or not

Just got back from a much needed vacation, haven't gotten much done lately....

But, yeah they are 99-04 spindles. Going to be ordering some more parts this week. Got some 240sx front suspension to mock up the front. Getting the rear subframe blasted and coated this week. I'll post some more pics soon.
