Default erratic tach and loss of fuel pressue

Maybe not the right area. but i have a 97 f-body with a 6.0 swapped in. Has a bunch of work done. Anyways out driving it today the tach started acting up, would read high, low, 0 all over the place, yet on the efilive dashboard it would read correct. Then the second problem came, it just randomly quit (lost fuel pressure) cause it would crank and everything else ran, I also have a gauge on the rail. Turn the keys over a few times, and I could feel the fuel pump relay under the dead pedal clicking over, if I left the key turned, it would cycle back and forth, but the pump wouldn't prime. Car sat for 5 min and fired up, so I drove it home (was only 2 blocks away). Would this be a sign of a bad fuel pump? Wiring? Relay? Not really sure where to start, never seen anything like this. When the pump ran today, there was no issues with the car or fuel pressure. The pump has been in for 4 or 5 years now, its a Walboro 255.

would the pump going cause the tach to read erratic? i haven't found any wiring issues under the hood.

It shouldn't have anything to do with the tach at all.

Could be a poor ground in the dash. My dads 96 suburban has a erratic tach reading........the universal response that I received when I asked about that was that it was most likely a bad ground in the dash.....but have fun finding which one........been 4 years and you know what, it still has an erratic tach LOL. never even bothered to look.
