Default Abbott Cable X is kicking my tail

I can make the box do its self test. However, I cannot get it to take any signal from the transmission.

Project Background:

1997 LT1 with 1997 4L60E

The harness was converter by Tom at LT1 Wiring. I am using the VSS signal wire (which I believe is green with white stripe). All connections are soldered. I do not know how to test if it is sending signal to that wire, is there any way I can test. I am really really tired of this car, and this is my final deal on it.

Any help is appreciated.

Get the signal from the pcm and set the box for 4000 pulse. That may not be the perfect setting, depending on tire size and gear ratio, but it will get you in the ball park. From there you can adjust up or down as required.

I have a schematic for a 94 LT1. It shows a purple wire and a yellow wire. Yellow is signal and purple is ground. Maybe your wire colors are the same.

I think I am going to have to tap in right at the speed sensor, rather than use the vss out from the pcm. I am working on it right now, friggen POS.

Did you figure it out? I just bought one of these cause i wanted to keep the factory gauges and it will not work! only on the self test mode. I emailed them and they said i have it programed right but said i need to take the connection right off the sensor. Havent tried that yet.

The only way I've ever got one of these to work was to connect it directly off of the speed sensor itself. That should fix your problem.

That gets it. It was the yellow wire that you need to tap it in to.

The engine light went away, but it was an o2 sensor.

The needle is a little bouncy at start but, i think it has to do with the orientation of the cable curves and box location.

Default VSS connection good now

My new speedo cable and VSS connection was bouncy at first, but settled down quickly and was "perfect" after a few day.

I got mine to work today, by going straight off the sensor. Thanks for the help!
