It will be drivable for sure just not ideal. It idles like a stocker. I got mine to run pretty good after a while. It will want alot of timing or it will be a dog.

The problem is that carbs like valve overlap and narrow lsa and turbocharged engines like wide lsa and no overlap (or they will bleed off bost and spool slowly) Try to get a cam that has a narrow lsa without having overlap.

Do you have the MSD timing file from your 5.3 + LS6 cam set up?

Car is down right now but it is stored in the box.

set 0 rpm to 14
set 1000 to 21
have 32 total advance by 3500
vac advance 8* anywhere over 16" vac ( you'll have to convert it to the different measurement)

Everyone says not to go high on timing with an ls but carbed ones are different. Billy Flantos runs alot of timing and runs well too.

Couple updates today. We tore apart the T56. I was told it was problem free, but it actually needed a couple gears, oh well. Also got the frame stands in and started working on setting up the clutch master.

Subframe all cleaned up and the new frame stands mounted

Clutch master cylinder mounted using the DSE plate. Going to figure out attaching the rod to the pedal tomorrow...

i got some used pedals out of a 69 nova for my camaro long ago. the clutch pedal had two sets of holes already drilled in them. one of the holes was perfect for the master cylinder.

Nice setup.... Nice Car...

IMO
I hope you paint the frame and fire wall with a rattle can, before you drop that nice motor in there.

Nice '67. Did you pull the motor from your Impala or is that someone elses car?

Got the engine in today! We first tried it with the frame stands where their labels said they should be, but it put the engine right up against the firewall. The frame stands also hung way off the subframe. So we switched 'em around side to side and dropped it in again. Looks much better now with about 2.5" from the rear block face to the firewall. Everything seems to fit well with adequate clearance. Also got the fuel pump mounted.

There's not much room back there where the pump couldn't get hit by the axle or spring

More progress today...

Got the LS7 clutch set up

Hole cut for the shifter, about 4" back from stock

Motor is just about ready to go except for carb, exhaust, and wiring. I tried all of my exhaust manifolds I have (5 different sets) and none of them seem to fit on the driver's side Might have to call up ARH

Do the lt's trust me. The bump in low end torque from the lt's versus my turbo shortys was rediculous. So the diff with the mani's would be even bigger.

Just a small update today

Got a new Be Cool radiator to handle the AZ summers. Should definitely do a better job than the old single core would've

Had to replace the heater core as well. Getting the new one back through the firewall is proving to be a huge pain in the ***

Looks like fun. Are you gonna paint the rad support or use the patina look?

Not going to paint the engine bay. I know if I start with that, the whole car's coming apart to do it right, and there's no way I can do that right now.

Small update today...

Got the extra part of the shifter hole filled in with a section of the sheet metal removed for the new/bigger hole

And the blocking ring I've been waiting for finally arrived so we got the trans back together. check out the nifty reverse-lockout-solenoid block-off plate
