On the LS1 motor, there is a hole in the block near the starter so there isnt any need to drill anything.

The Gto motors have a metal plug installed in the factory block dipstick hole, because the GTO pan uses its own dipstick location. Just drill the plug out and insert your H3 dipstick. the plug is similar to a freeze plug, just tiny. Drill it out with the pan off, so the metal shavings dont go into the pan.

when you have the pan off, just use a small punch and pop it out from the bottom.

Okay, I was hoping that it was a plug and didn't have to drill it out. Thanks guys.

Yeah, pop out that little plug. Remove it while the pan is off. And save the plug, or sent it to me. LOL

Drill it.....pop it......whatever you do to it, just get it out of there and take off the pan so you dont get anything in there while removing it. I hope its out already and a dipstick is in its place.....this threads been discussing removal methods for the 2< minute job for about a week now! Now how many steps can we list to make that peanut butter & jelly sandwich...........

Ha, right now the pan is just on for fitting the engine in to make mounts. When I pull it back out is when I'll remove the plug.
