I don't have one handy to check measurements.

I'm running out of ideas for how to get cooler air to my engine in a way that doesn't look like crap and preferably one which has potential for at least a mild ram air effect.

I was looking trying to think of a way to mod a ls1 airbox and remembered my friends 92 camaro. He has this stock setup but the lower has air scoops under the filters that are ran to behind his grill. When driving his car's IAT are within degrees of outside temps unlike mine which run hotter (usually around 110* unless the car is going down the road for several minutes).

I think part of it is heat soak into my jags that run rubber connectors. The black rubber is very thick and gets decently hot to the touch from being so close to the radiator hoses and radiator.

hood latch is centered where that would go, theoretically I could find a way to offset it to one side, but I would really like a symmetrical look if possible for anything coming over the radiator

Do you have a functional cowl hood? That would be a really cool set up if you could get it to work.

Not yet, I'm debating for when the car gets repainted to get one. A member here has done that and its neat.

But at the same time I kinda like no having the engine hidden under an old school air cleaner.

I might try to find one of these cheap in a scrap yard or borrow one from someone and see how it fits/looks.

This is true. I have two '91s, there is no way that thing will happily feed an LS1, much less air flow. Good idea though

You might try these guys http://www.ramairbox.com/product.html. I used their aluminum cones thru the front head lights.

my friends 92 with a cammed 97 lt1 has higher MAF readings than my car with a setup like this with ram air under the filters

if it fit and I did it I would try to cut off an put a larger outlet on it
