Default need some bellhousing advice

im putting an LS1 in my 79 trans am and im tryin to bolt it to a muncie. my LS flywheel is 14" and wont fit inside the original bellhousing. any ideas?

Kiesler engineering makes a bell to do just what you are asking.

And Lakewood, McLeod and Quicktime all make steel bellhousings for it.


GM pn 12561680 is the correct flywheel (168 tooth) to use with the older transmission. It has a thicker clutch face to compensate for the LS motors .400 shorter crank flange. You also need the pilot bearing PN 12557583 since the trans input shaft will fall slightly short of the LS pilot bearing.
