I have a 2000 V6 Camaro that I want to swap an LS6 into. I originally got the motor to swap into my 91 Firebird...but my 17 year old found out about it...now he is asking me to put it into his 2000 Camaro...that I used as my DD...I don't blame him.

I do my own wrenching, but I need to know what is involved with this swap...the motor and PCM are 2001. I am assuming that the Auto transmission in the V6 Bird is still a 4L60E...does it have the same bell housing bolt pattern as the LS1???

I need as much info as possible for this.

All the info you need is in the following links. Just remember that you have a 2000 and that 1999-2002 are virtually identical from the heads forward. If you can, find a low mileage donor car of the same year as your target car:

Dude this is fantastic...thanks a lot. My 2000 Camaro has an Auto in it already....is it a 4L60E that will bolt right up to the LS6..with a new flew plate of course?

Unfortunately the V6 transmission can not be used. The bell housing, input shaft, and pump stator are different. Perhaps somebody else here can say whether or not a stock LS1 4L60E will bolt up to an LS6?
