Default Anyone ever put a 98 PCM/harness in a 99+ car?

Not much of a hybrid, but was wondering if anyone ever had a 99+ LS1 f-body and put a 98 PCM/harness in the car. I wonder because I am about to be in that boat and it occured to me that the gauge clusters and such are different in regard to analog vs. serial feed. A point in any direction would really help.

why would you want to make that swap? just from a tuning standpoint i wouldnt make that swap. you will lose real time tuning

Pin locations are different, it would not be a straight up swap.....

Why are you putting a 1998 setup into a 1999 Car..?

Look for the 1999-2002, sell that 1998 to someone that wants a swap Harness.

Could I do that with my truck harness? Repin the connectors so they match a 99+ f-body harness and run the f-body ecu for the RTT?

You can repin a 98 F-Body harness for the 99+ F-Body PCM if that's what you're asking, yes.

What I am doing is I have a 94 LT1 car right now. I have a wrecked 99 SS donor car. I still have to drive the car during this process, but I have already replaced the WHOLE body wiring harness, in and out. Under the hood, ABS block, inside the car. Everything. I know that the 99+ cars run a serial feed to operate the gauges. I also know that 98 and under are all still analog, LT1 and LS1. So if I had a 98 body harness and such, it wouldn't be that big of a deal because all of my signals are still analog and everything would work, less the tach would be wrong.

I am pretty much doing this because it gives me something to do and try.

But my question still goes back to being able to get all of my proper LT1 signals to go through the BCM to the cluster in a 99+ car.

So you replaced the whole 1994 Car with all the 1999 LS1 Wiring?

Yup. I figured it would make life easier later down the road and not such much of a pain it currently is. Plus I couldn't find anything about someone doing this before and I like trying new stuff. So I figured it was worth a shot.

So I take it you have the 1999 Gauges in there too..?

Find a 1999-2002 Computer and wiring, don't waste the time with the 1998 stuff. You went through all that work to make it plug n play..might as well finish it right.

I just said 98 because I knew it was still analog.

Long run is I , in theory, would be putting a 94 LT1/harness/PCM in a 99 SS. And want the cluster to work.

Nope, im asking if I can change the pins around in my TRUCK harness to match that of an FBODY harness and use a 99+ fbody ecu instead of my 2002 silverado ecu (which matches my harness).

Why the hell would you want to do that?

Did you guys not read my post? It is simple. I have a 94 camaro that I drive everyday. I have a wrecked 99 camaro that will never driver on any road. Everything from the 99 is going to the 94. Wiring, motor, fuel tank, etc. I want to build the motor up before I put it in the car but want to put everything else in the car now (i.e. wiring, tank, brakes, steering rack, etc). And when all that stuff is in the car, the orginal motor will still be in there for a while. I just want to get the car to function for a while until I finish the LS1. And I also want the important gauges to work like the oil pressure and coolant temp.....

You can use a 411 ECM and plug it in directly. Use a 02 F-body tune in it. Everything will work.

It's simple when you explain your intentions..

I don't know if it will work..main reason is the way the PCM communicates with the newer Gauges.

So far it is coming out to be a PITA. The only thing that sucks about this is the car was an auto where mine was a 6 speed and for some reason, the center console was removed and they cut the harness that runs under it. Didnt take the console or anything. I just dont know what wires are for "Park/Neutral" so I can get it to turn the starter over.
